I would just say that the $700 price of a Toulon Garage putter is not justified to me. Toulon head are milled in China and they charge premium price for their tour department to change the neck, finish and or stamps. Piretti and Byron Morgan have the same house that does milling of their heads. Bettinardi does it in house and both are Made in the USA and this means something to me. Surely the cost saved on having it done in China was not brought over to the retail consumer.

I'm sure they're all great putters, but I prefer Bettinardi "made in the USA"...slowly building a collection of them-4 so far.

All great putters, if it were me, I would look more closely at one of the US guys like Bettinardi or David Mills (or whoever you prefer), would rather give them the business and get something special than something milled in China, but that is just my opinion. Whatever you get, hope it treats you well!

I guess I should have worded it differently. Does the $700 price tag for a custom Toulon justify results better than a $400-$500 piretti or benttnardi?

If you're spending more than $150-200 on a putter to begin with, what's the difference between $500 and $700? If you're buying a luxury car rather than a Honda Civic, buy the one you like driving.

I have narrowed my next putter to these 3. Any suggestions as to which is going to be the better blade?

These are all very good putters makers so I'm not dogging on anyone. But if you haven't tried a Piretti, make sure you do so before buying. To me they have quite a different feel from either a Bettinardi or a Toulon. Might be the type of steel he uses, but they do feel quite different. Not saying it's better or worse, just different. I can't really even describe it. I just know that for me there is a noticeable difference.

I'm not sure where Morgan or Piretti get their heads. I don't think they are milling their own heads, they are bringing them in and doing the finishing work. I would prefer milled and made in the USA. But milled elsewhere and finished and assembled in the USA is better than made in China and built in Mexico (Callaway).

Bettinardi is great, but isn't really cheaper than others mentioned. Their retail line is 400-500 range, but when you get into custom you're talking $900+.

Per the Piretti website they are made, milled and crafted in house but who knows.

I am a Piretti believer. Own three, and have not changed for almost 10 years. The heavier heads and lower loft works great for me on real nice, smooth, fast greens. Problem is I play on bumpy NorCal greens just as often. A urethane ball makes a comforting sound and coming off the face, and provided instant awshit feedback on mishits. I have no plan to change - except maybe to another Piretti. The Texas staff was easy to work with in terms of specs, grip, color, stamping, etc. I think their price is about the same as the nice Bettinardi's, Morgan's, etc. Expensive, but so are new drivers, and I change them all the freaking time.

OP, you can't go wrong with any of the makers you mentioned. BTW, as a lefty, I never hit a putt with one until I bought my first Piretti. #2 and #3 were simply to change head shape, shaft (tried a center, nah), weight and length. And I'm an idiot.

All great putters obviously, have owned at minimum 2 of each. It really comes down to feel, which is subjective. I have settled on the Toulon Austin, which to me has a very unique feel. The only 009 style putter I have owned that felt even close was a Bettinardi BB Zero, Carbon head with FIT face.

Having said that the wifey is hooking me up with a putter fitting at the Bettinardi studio for my birthday, extremely pumped about that. Good luck in your search!!c20d2fbf47a3bf12153f142f48cae837.jpg

Me too @kaexo, except my CW II is black oxide, chrome shaft with black iomic standard grip. This will be the last putter in my bag for 2017!! Yes, for me, a whole 3 month commitment is saying quite a lot!!

I went back and fourth between Onyx and Oxide but settled on the more graphite finish with the onyx with black shaft. I went with the standard piretti black since its a midsize Winn grip like a Ping pp58 midsize.

I also struggled with the Bettinardi BB1 I almost bought it but the green and the Piretti is more of a standard pattern faced mill so I settled on it.

So Piretti and Morgan don't mill their heads in the USA?

Edit: I am confused because above poster made it sound like Piretti and Bryon Morgan were milled in China.

To clarify, Bettinardi, Piretti and Morgan are made in USA! Per a conversation with a Byron Morgan sales rep. that mentioned that Piretti and Morgan use the same milling house on their answer style blades.

Toulon have a sticker on the shaft that reads: Head made in China, Shaft made in China, Assembled in Mexico

-the Garage Toulons are then sent to the tour department for customization in California

To be fair, the Garage putters are both assembled and customized in the Tour department.

That's cool about Piretti and Byron using the same milling house though. Nice to hear.

That's good to know as well as I hear nothing but great things about Byron Morgan putters as well. The Piretti website also says made/milled and crafted in the USA.

I pulled the trigger without trying one since I had no place near me that stock Piretti's.
