Bridgestone Tour B Golf Ball Reviews?

We're less than 2 weeks from these hitting the shelves. Has anybody gotten a chance to take the new line of golf balls out for a spin yet? If so, how do they compare to the current generation?

I'm hesitant to type this as I have very little info, but last week I met our local Bridgestone rep. At the end of our conversation, he mentioned a new ball coming in early October. I asked what was different and the primary difference he mentioned was a layer/coating/something that increased spin on wedges

    It's 4 new balls.

Be one of the first to try this new product before it hits shelves! The TOUR B series is designed to give golfers an edge tee through green. This 4 ball trial pack gives you an exclusive opportunity to try the new TOUR B balls in advance of their release. The trial pack includes one of each new TOUR B golf ball:

TOUR B X: Feel for more birdies and Accuracy to help you control the ball on every shot.

TOUR B XS: Feel for lower scores and Distance for an advantage over the competition.

TOUR B RX: Distance to outperform the competition and Accuracy to help you find the fairway.

TOUR B RXS: Distance to give you an edge and Feel to provide control around the green.

Quantities of this special sample kit are limited so act now!
    WITB
    Tools for the job!

To paraphrase Dr Seuss: Don't cry because the round of golf is over-smile because it happened . :)

Game is recovering from total ankle replacement. Getting there and glad to be pain free!

I enjoyed both the 330S and the 330RXS this year. Looking forward to hearing reviews on the new releases.
  • I have a couple dozen XS and a dozen RXS in hand. Have played both B330S and B330RXS the last several years..... The RXS is my preferred winter/persimmon ball and play the S the rest of the year.

So far I've just gotten into the XS. Compared to B330S it's a touch longer, feedback on fuller shots is slightly firmer but it's about as soft off short shots/putter.

Taking a dozen B330S and a dozen XS on a trip next week and will report after I get more time with them side by side. Have currently played XS about 27 holes

The PGA Tour Superstore has had these for at least a week now here in Atlanta. I haven't tried them yet because I am working through a stash of Vice Pros, but I am a WRXer so I'm definitely curious! LOL!

    I think B X = B330, B XS = B330S, B RX = RX, B RXS = RXS

Interested to hear people's thoughts on the performance of these.

From what I have previously read all balls have a lower compression and the RX and RXS actually have a new dimple pattern which is no longer 330 (hence the name change).

Really enjoying the Z-Star but will be giving the B and BXS a go when they land in shops.

This is really interesting to hear. I do like the short game control and feel of the B330S, but I prefer the long game performance of the regular B330.

What crazy changes? They made a slight change to the name, but they kept essentially the same four balls and just updated each line. Do we now not want companies to make updates to their products that are two years old?

These are pretty vague descriptions but to me it seems like the X would be like the 330S, which if thats the case I dont know why they would make a confusing change.

Yep. Another typically useless golf ball description. Thanks Bridgestone!

I'll end up buying both and putting them through their paces.

So they're claiming higher ball speed with the XS than the X, but higher spin as well?

I'm interested to find out how they perform in relation to the current generation B330 and B330S. Are they mostly the same, or are they fairly different?

I play the B330 right now, but it doesn't seem cut and dry whether I'd want to move to the X or XS in the new line.

The price is laughable for a 4 ball sample pack ordering on line direct from Bridgestone. $14.99 + $8.00 shipping + 6% sales tax = $24.37 for a 4 ball sample pack. Please. Bridgestone should have taken notes from Srixon on how to get new balls into the hands of golfers at a better price point to sample. Srixon had it right with the new Z-Star/Q Star Tour balls @ $10.00 for a 6 ball sample pack. Bridgestone could have done better.

I really dislike the large 'Tour B' logo. Hoping the standard logo b330 goes on deep discount somewhere and I'll buy another 5-6 dozen for next year. That, or this could possibly drive me back to Titleist... I really don't like the jumbo B.

A found TP5x also really impressed a few weeks ago, so we'll see.

Dang, if they sell enough sampler pack they won't have to worry about future sales at $6 a ball. image/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Yep. Almost seems like 2017 ProV1x = XS and 2017 ProV1 = X. But then I think the X has a higher compression than the XS so that probably throws my theory out the water a little.

    Or a lot.

The "B" isn't that big. Just curious, are you a golfer that prefers no logos on your apparel as well?

I don't like most club/course logos on my apparel but I am fine with the FJ, ZR, Adidas stripes within reason. I do generally refuse to wear anything with a swoosh, except for maybe the odd pair of sneakers. I really dislike Nike. When ordering my custom forged Mack Daddy's I did opt to have the Chevron removed for a nice naked look on the back of the wedge.

It is mainly because of the mark I have adopted on my ball over the past 5 years. I like to mark right in the middle of the word Bridgestone (previously Titleist) with a nice medium size dot that eclipses a couple letters. That and I just think the B looks goofy. The traditional company name on opposing hemispheres is what I like am used to and prefer.

I wonder if it's just me, I honestly thought it would be a limited run with the large B and they would go back to the traditional logo.

It's not just you. I work in golf retail and hear the logo complaint often enough. Times are changing and marketing influences companies to remind everyone of who they are as big and bold as in reason. I don't mind the marketing but I know it bothers many.
