Question About Paint Chipping - Sorry For The Novice Question

I noticed that the faces of the PING Cadence putters wear very quickly and look beat up. The appearance of it wouldn't bother as I wouldn't see it at address.

What I'm wondering is, does it effect the performance in any way as it wears? I would logically think not but I wouldn't be sure.

It won't effect the performance at all, it's just paint at the end of the day. Some pros keep their banged up flat sticks for decades. Woods and Spieth to name a few.

The face inserts on Cadence putters aren't likely to be painted. The blue inserts are aluminum, therefore most likely anodized. The black inserts are stainless steel, so they may have an oxide finish or else PVD.

Paint is never a good idea on the hitting area.

My apologies, I think I'm incorrect so. The point I was trying to make was that I think the 2 Ketsches that I have posted just below this would perform the same way despite 1 face looking virtually new and the other one looking worn. Am I correct in saying that?

After a little more googling, it seems the other posters here are just talking about the paint falling out of the grooves, whether the putter has the Cadence face inserts or just the milled Ketsch face. The paint doesn't contact the ball, so if it comes out in places there should be no effect on ball roll. At most a slight difference in sound if enough of it falls out. Certainly looks hideous, though. :blind:

Have you ever tried to do paint fill yourself, that putter may not be the easiest to do, but not like you have much to lose...
