Putter Displays - They don't have to cost a lot... or be difficult to make

I just moved into a new house and I now have a room to set up as a home office (finally). Naturally, I want to decorate it my way and display some of my favorite toys.

While the custom made wood putter/headcover displays are beautiful, and probably the best option, I didn't feel the need to spend that much money on a piece for a room that isn't exactly "common area." So... I tried to "MacGyver" something together, and it came out pretty darn nice.

24" Floating Shelf from the Home Depot - $15.98

5/16" X 6" Screw Eye (x10) from the Home Depot - $0.73/each

It's pretty self explanatory from there... Mount your shelf where you want it, stick the acrylic to the wall above the shelf using the mounting tape, cut the shelf liner to size and lay on shelf (so your putters don't slide off), and screw the screw eyes into the wall wherever you want a headcover to go.

Total cost: $68.04 plus tax

Is it the most professional display in the world? Of course not. But I think it looks really nice... and it makes me smile when I walk into my office.

I had some Byron Morgan and Scotty Cameron stickers that I added to liven things up a bit. Would love to add more stickers, so if anyone has some that they are willing to part with, please shoot me a PM.

A photo of the finished product is below. The acrylic acts as a bit of a mirror, so I guess it's a bit of a self portrait, too. Hope you like it as much as I do.

Nice work! I just recently got one off ebay for about $24-25. It's a black samurai sword display rack that hangs on the wall and that holds 8 putters. They had tons of them on ebay. You can see a pic of it in the Big Moss Augusta thread.

HJey GW, can you provide a link to those displays on ebay? I've searched "display stand", "sword display", "putter display" and others, but can't find anything to hold 8 putters and that cheap. Just some similar ones from China but they only hold 1,2,3 putters (swords).

1. I tend to store mine behind an old refrigerator in the garage, with an old wax cotton jacket over them. Like many of you do ?

2. If I was single and lived alone i may have a display like that.

3. Point 2 could happen if I didn't do point 1.

You said there were some assembly required. Did you find that this was overly wide for some of your putters? Could the rack be narrowed up a bit to fit 34/33 inch putters easier

There is assembly required but its really easy and self explanatory. All of my putters are 33 in so the pic in the big moss augusta thread should give you a good idea of what it would look like. I'm sure the rack could be made narrower if you're handy like that.

Looks like my garage display Rob. The key is to flatten them and pack them away before my wife trips over them. The PeanutsMommy signed off on my recent putter display aquisiton to move me out of my box collecting.
