I've heard of Pro's going with 1/2" or 1" in tipping but have never heard of 2".

Didn't Tiger Woods play driver and 3w tipped 1.5" and 5w tipped 2" ? I would agree 2" would be aggressive in the irons but these guys generate a lot more torque than a normal person.

He may have, I heard his irons were 1" tipped so metals like that seem plausible. Norman was doing it with a persimmon and Tiger with King Cobra (which is not an easy metal to hit). Both guys had fierce power even compared to their peers and some guys today. Who on tour is using a tipped X100 in their Driver right now?

I’m not sure sure about steel, but a number of pros tip their 3W and 5W 2”+.

In his prime, Lanny Watkins played a bore through persimmon head. The club builder pushed the X flex shaft through until it could go no more and then cut it off.

To me, the coolest part is you can still get Don White to fully make you a set if you like with any preference. You pay for it, but to get the same options as a tour pro, even muscle back design, is pretty special. If you think about the history you are buying by Don making you a set, i seems pretty cheap!

I was cleaning up my PM'S and stored pictures and must have deleted them.

Anyone else notice that Tom Weiskope ordered two wedges and two one irons! The wedges yes but wearing out a one iron, way to go Tom. It probably explains the legendary ball striking.

Weiskopf and Els are the guys I’d pay to watch swing, don’t care what they shoot!

I had a Weiskopf teaching video on VHS, just beautiful to watch. Zero bounce? Lol

Norman said he used a X-400 in his driver recently. Really such a thing?

When first introduced Dyn Gold shaft were available in 5 sub flexes in each category .......X-100 thru X-500.......same in reg and stiff

I read an interview w/ someone who built a persimmon for him and at that time he specified X100 tipped 2". Yikes!

the wood shafts were not as stiff as the iron shafts

Well, I swung an X100 back around that era in a TM metal and the thing was impossible for me to hit even though I could handle s300 then.

local Pro had a TM raylor 4 wood with a X100 tipped so much the first step was a couple inches above the ferule

he was not a long hitter and the club was very playable
