Upstate NY long weekend

Planning a golf excursion for next summer with a buddy. He's in Montreal, I'm in Toronto. We're looking at long weekend a reasonable drive for both of us. I'm looking for suggestions for destinations that would offer a variety of v. good - excellent courses, with hopefully something to keep us entertained in the evenings/afternoons when we aren't at the course. Cooperstown seems like an option.

Any must play courses or hidden gems? Can anyone get us on Oak Hill? image/wink.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=';)' />

Thanks in advance.

Turning Stone is right about half way for you guys. They used to do a stay + play deal - something like 2 nights, unlimited golf. Only one round on their premiere course, but the other two were very good courses as well. We played 27 - 36 - 18 for our trip. Highly recommend.

Plus, there's a casino on-site for the evenings.

If you want to meet in Rochester, while I can not get you on Oak Hill, I would suggest Greystone and Ravenwood. Both are excellent courses and great value. Also head over the Golfweek, Golf Magazine and Golf Digest websites to look at their list of top courses in NY state, .. I am not against the Casino courses, just realize what the costs will be to play there.

Homer vote for Saratoga Springs. Can't beat the entertainment / restaurants / bars / racetrack in the summer, and some great golf too!

Saratoga National, The Sagamore, Saratoga Spa State Park, Orchard Creek, etc. Lot's of great public access courses in our area.

Edit; Saratoga bit of a drive from Toronto though, might not work the best. I'd vote Turning Stone as a great option for you guys.

Thanks for the replies so far. Seems like Turing Stone is the favorite, although i'm not sure the whole casino/resort thing is our scene. But I guess its just for a couple of days. Any thoughts on Links @ Hiawatha/Conklin? Anything to do in Binghamton?

Hiawatha/Conklin and enjoie. They run some package deals that are very reasonable. I believe the pro at links @ Hiawatha puts them together.
