Garmin G8 price drop. Is a replacement around the corner?

I see that the G8 has received a significant price drop. I've had my eyes on one but have been waiting to see if a replacement is coming. Does anybody have any information about a possible successor?

Thanks.

Wish I knew the answer. I love the idea of this. Looks like it’s been $299 for awhile now.

It was released in 2014 and still no update?

Not an exact replacement. Interested to hear how the laser/GPS is received.

The G8 dropped to $250 just before Christmas. I've been waiting to purchase a replacement for my old Sonnocaddie V300 (which still works fine) and the price drop led me to incorrectly assume that we'd be see a replacement. The price went back up to $350 and now I see that it's down to $300. I should have purchased one back in November.

I have a G8 and love it. One thing I hate on the course is constantly looking at my iPhone for distances. Had a Garmin golf watch before the G8 and returned it for the G8. Hated looking at the watch and the tan line it goes (South Florida sun). The G8 is easy for anyone riding with me to read & use so they dont keep asking me for yardages.

I've decided to purchase a G8 after losing my sky caddie touch (I swear TSA stole it). So I used a laser for six months but I'm a hole map kind of guy with front, middle, back info. I like to know more distances and just don't love the laser. So I'm keeping an eye out for a price drop.

Is the screen easier to read in the sun than an iPhone screen?
