ClubCorp Near DC

Forgive me if this has been discussed but I will be traveling to Northern VA/DC for Thanksgiving and am looking for some advice on the ClubCorp properties as I would like to play the most exciting layout in the best possible shape.

The ClubCorp properties available are:

Chantilly National

Norbeck CC

Piedmon Club - Haymarket

River Creek Club

Any to check out? Any to avoid?

I've played 3/4, haven't played Norbeck. I play chantilly the most because of distance to home. River creek is by far the favorite of the three I've played. Much more interesting layout, some really cool holes with a bunch of elevation changes, and a bunch of holes right on the bank of the Potomac river, though there are a lot trees that block some of the view. Chantilly's layout I find pretty boring, as the whole course pretty much plays right in front of you. A couple doglegs, but nothing special. Greens are also part Poa which take some getting used too. Where will you be staying while you're in town?

I'll be staying in Arlington for a few nights and either Reston or Ashburn for a few nights. Thanks for the advice.

If you're going to be in Ashburn, River Creek will be the closest. Piedmont is the furthest away of the 3 I've played from your locations.

I'm a member at Norbeck and its a solid layout in Rockville Md. I've played many Club Corp courses from North Carolina to Pennsylvania. If you play River Creek make sure it hasn't had recent rains as it has several holes right next to the Potomac River and can flood easy (but DC has recently been in drought conditions). Most of the course threads through a housing development but they don't really come into play.

The OP was coming at Thanksgiving in **2017**. I'm not sure he's concerned about 2019.

Blame @TinkerGolfMan , he posted links to his video logs from two of the courses. But I'm in the area myself, I enjoyed my look at the vlogs.

I've unknowingly responded to a couple older posts without looking at the original date. Perhaps this site can find a way to flag threads that have been dormant for extended periods.
