Failed BST Transaction

Hello All- I hate having to start a thread like this but I have been asked by the site moderators to bring a situation to your attention that has developed as a result of a BST ad I placed in August....

I agreed to trade user Quentinwhill the refinished Callaway prototypes seen in the ad for a set of LH Miura CBs that he had. We worked out the trade deal via text and I sent him my clubs with the understanding that he would return the favor.

I never received his clubs in return. After questioning, he complained that he still had his clubs and that after hitting mine and then reshafting mine with different shafts, he no longer wanted to do the deal.

I asked him to reassemble my clubs and return them to me ASAP. I have never received them, despite the claims that he shipped them over a month ago and that his tracking information shows that they were delivered.

He has since blocked my cell phone # and I can no longer contact him. I don't hold out much hope that my clubs will be recovered at this point, but you never know.....

I don't even know to begin with this one... between the reshafting, not shipping his side when he contacted you about a trade, to just vanishing... If you have his address (don't share here) but I would contact the local police at the least. Did you agree to let him reshaft and hit before keeping. In my eyes, you trade clubs and that's it. There's no "hey, I rebuilt your clubs and still don't like them. I would like a refund." Kind of like buying a car, putting a new engine in, and then wanting a refund when it's not faster. I'd be a lot more upset than you seem to be on this incident.

I think one of the practices here is if one person is shipping first is to have the other party Paypal a collateral sum that would be held until everything is kosher. Those are some nice sticks to just have disappear from you,

Dude's ebay account is closed down. He most likely shafted someone there as well.

I definitely should have requested a collateral sum through Paypal until everything was worked out and delivered. That was certainly my first mistake.

As far as changing the shafts in the clubs. The prototypes were shafted with DG R300 and he wanted to change them to the C-Tapers that were in his Miuras. I agreed with the understanding that he would simply exchange the shafts and place his Miura CB heads on my DGR300 shafts. Once the clubs were taken apart and reassembled, he would ship the Miuras to me.

After the deal broke down and he stated he no longer wanted my Callaways, I simply asked that my original clubs be returned. To this point, I haven't received them.

He claims that they were shipped with a tracking # that shows they were delivered. I have checked all of our text conversations and messages on this site and I cannot find record that he ever even asked for my shipping address let alone produced a valid tracking number.

Then contact the local police. It’s good that you alerted everyone here but call the cops.

What city is he in? Maybe a WRXer where he lives could do a stop by haha

I was under the impression that he did that without asking. All good if it was agreed upon. I feel for you though. Sounds like it was a scam and he shipped them somewhere to show proof of delivery should it ever come back to him. I hope they show up at your door eventually but doesn't sound good. I'm sorry for you about all of this as it sucks to put trust in some one only to have it backfire.

He is a clubwrx member, so the mods have his paypal info and personal information, so you can double check all information with them to ensure he hasn't provided fake information.

I would direct him to this thread, let him know that if the irons are not received by the end of the week, in the exact condition that send them in. That the following steps will occur: will contact his employer, contact his wife's employer, contact his kid's schools, contact his kid's jobs (if they are employed), Will Contact his parents, his golf coach, his school, any place of employment you can find for him, then contact local police, and file a suit in small claims, etc. It is very simple theft at this point, but theft none the less.

He didn't happen to live in Louisburg, NC did he?

Shipped the clubs to a Cali address but a reverse phone lookup of his cell phone shows it as a Charlotte, NC number.

Between this guy and the NC chop shop guy in the other ongoing thread, I may have to put a temporary dealing ban on the entire state of North Carolina. Sheesh.
