December Golf- How late in the season were you able to play?

Wondering how long golfers up here in the north played this season. I played golf through December 9th, which I count as great. Some years it snows and courses close by Thanksgiving. My last round the temperature in the morning was 34* and by the 18th hole had warmed up to 42*F. I enjoyed every minute, had two birdies, and played with a complete stranger, die-hard like myself. Had a great time and feel like I made the off-season that much shorter. Clubs in the basement now probably until April.

I will travel from Cleveland and drive south until we leave the snow belts. On the rare occasion there's no snow temp plays little role in the decision assuming the course allows us too play. Cart cover, blankets, two Coleman heaters and plenty of libations....business is booming! My only rule don't play the starting lineup. I have a full backup set which I enjoy playing equally as well. Year round golf in the Pacific NW if one does not mind playing in the rain. Mid to high 40 degrees F and a few days into the mid 50's. The warmth was brought up by the PineApple Express from the South Pacific Ocean, along came the moisture. Dry weather means frozen greens and fairways. warmer weather means rain.

I played a lot of golf during the off seasons ( late October through the month of March the following year ), when I was younger. I kind of being more picky on when and where I play golf these days. Rain will definitely be a put off.

I managed to get out again today. Still some snow around the course but most holes were fully operational. Unfortunately it was cold and started to rain heavily so I called it quits half way round. I wasn't striking the ball particularly well anyway. First winter in recent years years when I've been prevented from playing. Hopefully things will be better for next weekend but the forecast doesn't inspire confidence :-/

The frozen part of Iowa. Played 11/30 after work just to hit a few iron shots with some new irons. Should have played first weekend in December but instead went to a drought ravaged area of South Dakota and walked several miles a day in 55 degree weather for pretty much the experience (birds were rare, hatches didn't survive, pretty bad pocket of SD this year unfortunately, but had a good time). Monday the 5th = snow and ice and no more golf until Spring around here.

In MS I can play during the winter. But it's iffy weather. A little over a week ago we got 5 inches of snow. Three days later I was playing golf. Today it's rainy and cool. Might get to play Wed then crappy weather again. If I get to play 2 times a week I'm fortunate. I know the northern guys aren't shedding any tears for me.

In South-East PA the last day for me was December 3rd. Still a chance though as some reasonable temperatures are on the way. If not the simulator is open all winter.

Edit: Tee time set for tomorrow at 1pm so 12/18 might be the last day.... then again if the rain holds off Friday and Saturday who knows.

Southwestern corner of South Dakota. We are usually done by October to November. Up to Wednesday of this week, I might have a sudden illness at work. It will require me to go chase a little white ball around in order to overcome the illness. With my normal weekend 4-some, we got out on Dec. 9th & 10th. One par 3 green was snow covered, so we just take a par or bogey (dependent on how the round is), & move on. It was the latest anyone has know for our course to still be open. End of last week all the greens were sanded with pins placed out in the fairways. So now done until spring. If a weekend is warm enough, you can get out & play to the pins in the fairway.

Last weekend of golf for me in December was 12/2 - 12/3. Played both days in the 50's. Then we got a cold spell and are now looking at about 8-10 inches of snow on the ground.

It will melt... and I'll probably be back out in January. We have a course that stays open all year round and if the wind is calm, I'll play down into the upper 30's.
