Epic 3wd Opinions

Does anyone have opinions on the epic 3wd, thinking about ordering one off Callaway pre-owned.... Thanks

3 woods is usually a lot more personal than driver. I had no major issues with the Epic, i felt it sounded it bit tinnier than my XR Pro and also had a thinner face. Perfectly good club, launched high and didn't spin a lot. I just liked the feel/sound and shape of the XR Pro better and the numbers were very similar

I got an Epic sub zero 3wd this summer after my old 4 wood got a broken shaft in an unforseen incident. I'm glad I did. First 3wd I've had in a long time that I can get decent elevation off the turf. I'm a fan.

Was the best club in my bag for most of the season. Paired with a AD DI 7x. Awesome combo for me

I've got the low lofted SZ which I am not near good enough to be playing, but I absolutely bust it off the deck and the tee.

I had the epic 3wd, and that is the longest 3wd I have ever hit. Its got some weight to it also, which is why I was bombing it I think. Ended up selling it cause I am a club hoe. Had it in the Rogue MAX shaft

It's been the best 3 wood I've ever owned. Easy to elevate off the deck and bombs off the tee. So good I actually bought two. I have a few different shafts for it but the RIP Beta 70 has been the best for me. Also have a Fubuki K 70 and Rogue Silver 70. Pick your shaft and go - great 3 wood, again, the best 3 wood I've ever owned.

I have a 3 wood. Had an XR16 before this one. I would say for me it's been really good. Long and easy to hit off the deck. But it is a very personal choice. If you can hit XR 16 then this one will fit you. Adjustability is an awesome feature that I missed with xr 16.

I prefer the SZ 3+ version, seems the face is just ever so slightly deeper. Amazing club off the tee and turf.

If you can get a hold of one of the glued hosel versions then do it. I hit one and it was the best feeling and longest 3w I've ever hit

Same 3wd here....I typically replace 3wd’s annually searching for the perfect versatile off tee & turf in a single club. With the Epic SZ, I hit career shots off both throughout the year. I can still close my eyes and picture 18th at Pebble shot. The last time I had a 3wd that lasted more than a season I had a Toney Penna persimmon ‘peanut’. Can’t recommend this 3ed enough....it’s amazing

I am very happy with mine. Easy to hit off the tee, as well as the fairway, with good distance as well.

Have the SZ 3+ (played at 14.5 N) and 5 (played at 18 N) and love them both. Long off tee or deck. Because of the relatively small head, it feels like you can smash it off the turf. Favorite fairways I have owned.

I’ve got an Epic Sz with the GD Ad di. It’s an awesome combo. I’ve finally found a 3 wood that’s good from the turn and tee.

Launches so high which I typically have an issue with. Safe to say I’m in love

Ah, the vagaries of combining a high-powered golf club with an imperfect swing. For me, the Epic 3 wood set at 17 degrees was a wildly inconsistent beast. Hit some lovely, long shots, but also hit some truly crappy hooks and some weak slices. The Epic 5 wood, however, also set at 17 degrees, is superb. Straighter, much more consistent, almost as long. I assume the longer shaft and larger head on the 3 make it harder for me--I'm a 13 hi, 65 yrs old, 90-93 driver swing.

17 degree 3 wood has been incredible for me. I use it off the tee a ton. Hit it with a high slight draw. Very long and consistent.

I have the 15 sub zero weight in the front and find it launches absurdly high, even with a 83x wb. I launch it high to begin with, off the tee I cant flight it very well. 14.3 rbz tour issued double stamp is much better for my swing same ballspeed 3 degrees lowet launch. If you struggle launching fairway woods this will be a good unit for you.

I use the standard epic 3 wood. Probbaly the only 3 wood I can hit consistently well in years.

I went to buy a 3 wood and tried the epic.i was hitting it ok but the salesman suggested I should try the 5 wood. I was hitting the 5 wood just as far as the 3 wood and could do so alot more consistently. I bought the 5 wood and it's my favourite club really. I hit it around 220 metres, give or take 10, and I'm not an overly big hitter. It just has a good zap off the face most times. Don't buy a 3 until you have tried the 5.

I have the SZ in 13.5 play it at 14.5. It is a great club and will be in my bag for some time. It is consistent off the tee and the turf. I say go for it.

Had mine a week and still working out how to use it properly, but from a couple of rounds so far i'm happy that it seems to be harder for me to get the ball going left, i've not noticed it really doing any more in terms of distance than my previous 3 wood, which was a TM aeroburner tp, but it does appear to go higher and happily the same shape for me.

Used the 3w and 5w this past season. Both were great off the tee or deck. They'll stay in the bag again this year.

I'm late to the party but I have a 15° SZ inbound. I'm hoping it's the one that can stay there for longer than a year! Haha!

One of the best 3w that ticks all the boxes. Hot face, good off tee and turf, forgiving and great adjustability. Don't be put off by the SZ if you have spin issues or want it more as a tee club. I found it felt more solid than the standard Epic and has a more compact head. The only real criticism from me is the sound, coming from the TEE CB1 and a little drop in ball speed (forgiveness gained though)

I got half a dozen rounds under my belt with the SZ in 13.5*, and I’m very pleased.

Was the best of the bunch during my launch monitor sessions and translates into the course immediately.
