Adding strike sound at Sentry TOC

Ace2000

I don't believe they are. I think they might be using those parabolic directional microphones to pick up the strike. They are very sensitive and the sound you get is like when you are standing right next to the player. When you mix that sound with a shot of the player from a slight distance it probably sounds like its being superimposed but it isn't.

Working in video production, I don’t really see any feasible way they would do this live for impact sounds. The timing would have to be impeccable and one production flub and the jig is up. Sweetening crowd roars (WWE does this on their live broadcasts frequently) or nature sounds like trees rustling or birds chirping is much more feasible and plausible.

All bets are off though for rebroadcasts and DVD packages or the like.

Jeez. Now I have to watch the rebroadcast.

I can’t fathom why they would take the time and effort to do it, but some of you guys sure seem convinced.

You honestly think some guy is in a TV production truck adding impact noices? Hum. Weird and tedious.

:cheesy: also listened for the fake bird sounds....

...and this is why this post was started...many people have heard a sound that is not natural...so maybe the "jig" is in fact up.

I've been saying it for years. That's why they all seem to sound the same. Its too easy to have a sound programmed to a button. dude swings, somebody hits the button. They have all these people sitting around in a production facility watching this video. I don't think this would be difficult.

Yes it’s pretty ridiculous.

How do they think we wouldn’t notice this:

Walter: Tell me Bobby, why do you play this game?
Bobby: I play because I love it.
Walter: Well I play for the money. I have to win. That is why every time we face each other I will always beat you.

I was wondering if anyone else heard those "booming" wedge shots. Why did somebody think that was a good idea???

Exactly. How do you, as somebody who works in video production, explain the fact that the sound of the wedge shot that Knock it Close linked sounds very similar to a driver? I'm not saying there isn't an explanation, I'm genuinely curious.

I'm more concerned with whose idea it was to let loose some waterhead audio guy, in the sound trailer, mashing a big blue button with a piece of duct tape on it with "BONG!" written in sharpie.

A bag of left-handed junk.

It's all those years of training playing Golden Tee Golf on video machines. You get to time the hit with the video.

Damn...I knew I should have plugged more quarters in that box. Now I'd have me a great gig, faking impact on the PGA Tour
