Indianapolis Spring wrx outing- Purgatory Saturday 5/19 at 11 am

I am so excited to announce the date and location for the golf outing this spring. I have had the opportunity to talk with several of the golf pros in the area, and they have all been awesome. Thank you!

Now to the good stuff: We are going to be playing Purgatory Golf Club in Noblesville this year. This is one of the best tracks around the city, and they will be a great host for our outing.

They have given us a price of $60 per man with a $20 replay. We will be playing a quota handicapped game. The total buy in for the day will be $100 with $40 going to side action. Purgatory has a great menu and facility for us to use as well.

Payout based on 20 players: $40 x 20 = 800 total

We will do closest to the pin on all par 3's paying 50 dollars each

The skins game will total $200, Skins will be handicapped. Tie one, Tie all

The tourney will pay out $250 for first place and $100 for second place and $50 for third place.

Men will be paying the white tees for the day, and women ladies tees.

Quota (Points) will be the game for the day: We will take your handicap and subtract that number from 36 to obtain your goal or quota for the day. An example of this would be I am a 10 handicap so I would take 36-10= 26 is my quota for the day. The person who is the most over their quota for the day wins. Scoring goes as such

Eagle 8 points

Birdie 4 points

Par 2 points

Bogey 1 point.

Pick up at double bogey due to not scoring any points for that hole. We will also pick up after 3 putts. This all will help keep things moving out there for the day.

Sounds good...just remember there is a little car race going on in May...too...on a Sunday.

I'd like to hear some opinions of places people would like to see the tourney happen. I have be in contact with several courses in the area, and i am waiting to hear back from more. I know things are slow with the weather right now, but I want to get a move on this to have the most time to organize the best outing possible for the Golfwrx community.

I am flexible on courses. Would like to keep it within 30 minutes of Indy if possible.

Many good courses...even a little bit outside of Indy...Royal Hylands...is an easy one to get to and reasonably priced. I'm sure whatever course you go with will be fine...it's the group of people that make the fun...so to speak.

Rob..I may have couple of guys interested that are not Golfwrx members and not handicapped?? Let me know if they can play and eligable for skins and stuff. They are my normal playing guys and could come up with fairly accurate handicap as both have had them in the past.

Whatever you come up with is fine...haven't asked them yet.

Paul,

I am not going to be needing an official USGA handicap. I would like to think this outing will be friendly and a game of honor. I feel like someone can fudge their scores online just as easily as they can fudge them to me. We are going to be playing on a gentlemen's agreement, and we are going to try to grow indy golf.

I would encourage your buddies to get on wrx and start posting however!

We are less than 100 days away from the outing. Hard to believe, but spring should be here fast.

Today is March 1st the outing is less than 3 months away. Had a nice group of 7 get together a couple weeks ago and 4 of us played at eagle creek this week. I would love to get this thing up to 30-40 players. Please share with others. Purgatory is going to be a great time

Purgatory e-mailed that they'll be opening for the season on Thursday. 2 months worth of practice! How many do we have now?

What tee boxes/yardage?

If we have a single flight it will be white tees. If we get more than 20 players I’ll adjust for that.

I am hoping to make it but not 100% yet. Sounds like a lot of fun.

It doesn't matter where you play in Indy so long as you make sure you are close enough to get to Shapiro's Deli for several of your meals. Place is outstanding.
