    Quick questions fellas.

For those gaming the G700's. Any distance control issues?

From the reviews I've read and watched, seems like these are really low spin which may impact distance control.

    Thanks

    None here.

If anything I find them really reliable I’m terms of allocated yardage.

Only exception. Was playing a par 3 at 142 which is usually spot on my 8i yardage. I was trying the AVX for the first time and nuked one over the green that went 162. I chalked it up to the ball. That avx seemed about 1/2 club longer through my set.

I don't have any issues at all with distance control with the G700's. In fact I find them easier and more consistent than my Steelhead irons were to dial in distances with different shots.

Excellent. Thanks for sharing your expeeinces Morbid.

Couple of rounds in and these are dead on yardage- wise. Drop & Stop within a foot of my ball mark is the order of the day. A few shots I thought were going to be way long turned out to be stunning shots. I truly hate the offset but truly love my GIR being unreal good. No distance issues here.

JB - I have 20+ rounds on mine, and have not had any distance control issues. Like most posters, definitely picked up about 1/2 club over my previous gamers, but gaps are consistent for me. I had posted a while ago questioning turf interaction with these prior to purchasing them, and have been extremely happy with them from all lies. I play mostly in Southern OH so rough can be pretty tough after a few days or rain and have not had any issues. Also had a chance to play 6 rounds in Palm Springs a month or so ago, and didn't have any issues out there either. Others have also questioned their stopping power due to the strong lofts, and again I have not experienced any of this. Just like Steelhead mentions - drop and stop.

I have been very happy with the investment!

I mean, I hear guys commenting that they are massive shovels but they don't look that much longer heel to toe than that G30.

Ok fellas. Just got back from DGS and got to hit both g700 and i500.

First off, maybe it’s my old age and deteriorating vision but when looking at the clubs from the sole, I couldn’t tell that much of a difference in size.

However, at address, I could see he difference. TBH, the large footprint of the g700 doesn’t bother me one bit but rather gave me more confidence, yes, shovel like confidence but again, didn’t bother me and actually helped.

As for sound, these both sounded the same to me (see bit above about my deteriorating vision but I guess hearing as well)

At the end of the day, the g700’s will be in my bag.

That is an intresting combo set that you are playing - G700 5 and 6-iron, and i500 7 to UW.

    How do you like it?

I knew the G700 was longer heel to toe, but honestly I never noticed it for a second, even during the fitting.

I will say that earlier this week when I picked up a G30 iron, it DID look a little smaller. Maybe comparable to the difference between older Ping irons, like the G10 to the i10 or the G5 to the i5.

So the bottom line, at least for me, is that the difference just isn't significant in terms of the look of the club. And in any case, they are just great irons. I actually went back and ordered the G700 6 iron and put it in my bag instead of the 6 hybrid that I'd been using for about 4 years. And it's a great hybrid; that's how good the G700s are.

I was asked yesterday by a guy I was playing with about the G700's, which he wasn't even a little bit familiar with. His question? "What are those irons? New muscle-backs?" That one took a second to explain...

I played a Karsten/G25 combo previously, so I'm sorta used to things.

I need more height below 30*/loft & can't make a hybrid or crossover type work{spin} . The G700 were the perfect solution. It's still a transition but at least they feel quite the same and give that much needed launch!

I had a fitting at Tour Spec and the G 700's won out over everything I have tried. This is quite radical for me I was fitted for a soft regular shaft, one-inch long red dot. The numbers on trackman proved out this combo and results were a slight right to left ball flight. I was hitting outside at a range at my club so I was very comfortable with the results. We will see how they work out on the course.

So right now I play the G700 5 iron and ping eye 2 4-LW. I will be replacing the Ping eye 2 4-6 w/ G700 6-8. So my set will be G700 5-8 and ping eye 2 7-LW. This is actually a really nice set up. I may eventually replace the eye 2 7-PW with i 210 8-GW.

So is there much difference between the G irons, which I have now, and the G700 in performance?
