Jones Utility Rover Bag 2018

It appears that Jones Golf married their Utility Bag to a Players Series bag...I know I’m gonna pick up one of these when available! Hope they give us that black Greyson in the pic as well. Two straps? Kinda’ gotten used to my Players one strap so we’ll see...also, the “speaker pocket” seemed weird to me until this week. I’m in SoCal for a few weeks and for the first time ever, I have crossed paths with Bluetooth speakers in bags being played at low levels on the course ...haven’t seen that in the NW (I must be getting older! :-)

Nice looking bag, I assume we are still looking at the same 7.75" top.

First I've heard about music/speakers on the golf course. I must be getting older too, are people incapable of spending 4 hours with their own thoughts and in conversation with their playing partners without additional audio stimulation?

Looks like the 7.75” top. As long as it has the single top divider (like the players series) it’ll work well for me. Looking at the 2018 catalog on the Jones website I did not notice any canvas players series. Maybe that will be Limited Edition stuff later...

This bag has my MacKenzie bag very nervous. I loved the utility bag by jones and have one of those as well, but the stand always annoyed me. This bag looks like perfection.

Single divider like the players series. (Confirmed yesterday with them). The Greyson I saw in the phot that appeared to be Black, I was told is a Navy Camo.

Set up with ONE divider (like the Players Series.) I like that as my Players holds 12-14 clubs way easier than my Greyson Utility.

Bending over to pickup the bag 65 times in a round gets old. Until I find a way to swing with one arm and hold the bag with the other I will continue to use a stand bag. Bag looks sharp though.

New Greyson was actually Navy/Camo. Don’t know if it will reach production. Saw the new Rover in person ( its sharp!) and can’t wait to get one. Light, yet lots of thoughtful details incorporated. It will replace all my others ASAP.

After giving up my original Greyson I now have a Tobacco Brown Utility, I sure would love it if they would come to market with the Navy/Camo Greyson..

I have the original and love it. But a valuables pouch/pocket appeals to me. The original has plenty of storage for my needs, but it'd be nice to have a separate pocket for my money clip, phone and keys.

Same here. Solved it with a lightweight, 3 zipper pouch for my keys, phone and watch that fits perfectly in the bottom of the twin pockets.

    Rover bag quick take.

    Pros:

    * 2+ lbs lighter than Utility bag.

    * holds 14 clubs easily with no grabbing

    * has all the pockets of the utility bag meaning: we can be ocd in organizing our stuff. Range tokens in this pocket, wallet/keys here, balls here, tees ...well just don’t load it up or you may defeat the purpose.

    * double straps are comfy, easy carry.

    * looks great.

    * always positive comments on all my Jones bags and this one is no exception.

    Cons:

    * being so purdy with no legs, I hate to lay this one down. A classic like the players series is meant to hit the ground. This one I found myself at times wanting to prop it up on something.

    * you can easily overload it

    * made me wish that my Greyson Utility bag was this light ( guess that’d be a SM2.5+ but they are so homely IMHO)

If you don’t mind carrying a light, good looking modern bag, I would not hesitate to get one!

awesome, thanks for the review. Do you find yourself using the two straps apposed to just single strapping it?

After using my players series it took a few holes before I realized I had two straps :-). The bag footprint and straps are similar to my utility bag ( which is obviously heavier) so, to have all those features built into the Rover was pleasant as I really like my Utility bag but appreciate less weight.
