TaylorMade M3/M4 Fairway?

Pitchswag

Recommended Posts

Which one did you go with a why? I’m in two different shoes here. M4 gives me more spin but better dispersion from the tee where the M3 gives me better results from the deck.

I know it’s all about personal preference but I’m curious to hear your choices.

Thanks.

I only play 1 fairway so I went with M3 5 wood turned down to 17*. I have 5 rounds in with it so far and that thing is cannon off the tee and has been pretty good off the deck as well. Very workable for me. Can hit low bullet stingers off the tee, and hit high soft shots into a green. So far so good.

M3 all day for me. I’m looking to upgrade from the M2 2016 Fairway. I’m looking at the M3 15 degree with Tensei White shaft. This combo helps me keep the ball down off the tee and can hit well off the deck. Also, you can adjust the face angle to help me with my left miss.

M4 tour is awesome, just can't stand how closed the standard m4 is

True. Because of the closed face I couldn’t hit it so high from the deck but it was an absolute rocket of the tee. Otherwise maybe I’m more covered overall with an M3.

Just funny I was fit to M2 Driver and Fairway in the original M2 from 2016 but now I have better numbers with M3 line.

... and I haven’t changed my swing.

Not many on line video reviews of these.

Looks like the M3 version is getting more love than the 4. Possibly the other way round to last year.

Loved the 2017 M1, so I'll be testing the M3 for sure. Love compact fairways, and this one seems to be pretty small.

The 5 wood turned down to 17* at 123ccs is a thing of beauty.

It depends what you want the club to do although the M3 does seem a little more versatile

Just my thoughts as well. With the M4 I was hitting rockets from the tee, but was a bit hard for me to hit it higher from the deck.

With the M3 I did not have the absolute best numbers from the tee, but it was amazing from the deck, so agree on M3 being more versatile, at least for me.

Why not just play the 3hl? 5wood turned down is going to be hugely fade biased.

Both solid ideas. Never hit a 3HL, wonder if it would go as go as far as my 15*?

I would definitely agree with your choice. Nukes off the tee is why drivers were invented. In my opinion 3 woods should go a yardage and be versatile

I originally played a 2016 m1 3hl. I played it so I could open the face to help offset my draw. I played it at 16 degrees. I switched to a fade last year so I traded the hl for a 15 degree. Hit the 15 the same distance as the 16 hl.

If you put the same shaft in both then you'll likely see negligible distance differences. Some folks get more carry with the hl simply because it launches a touch higher.

I just find it weird how the "trend" on the Tour is sometimes. When looking at Titleist FW it's the bigger headed version F2 that is getting most love over the smaller head version F3.

When looking at TaylorMade as it is right now (I know the club is pretty new still) the smaller headed version M3 is getting most love over M4 FW.

Wonder why and what factors that make the pros switch.

I have been at few retail shops and every M4 fairway wood I have looked at sits closed to my eye. All the M3 fairway woods look square or a touch open to my eye which I prefer. Will give a M3 Head a try in my go to shaft.

More people who was between M3 and M4 FW and what did you end up with? I ordered the M3 after I tested the M3 and M4 again. I could just not ignore the closed face at address. Maybe the M4 isn't so close at address, but it sure does looks like it when standing over it, so M3 for me.

Curious to hear other stories and thoughts.

I went with an M3 460 driver but didn't really like the feel of the m3 fairway. The m4 looked too big and I totally see that it looks closed at address. I went with an m4 tour and couldn't be happier, reminds me of my older rbz tour 3 wood that I've been gaming for the past 6 years.

I'm stilling searching for something to beat out my '16 M2 3HL.

Epic was a no

'17 M2 and M2 Tour 3HL were a no

M4 3HL was a no

Rogue 4W was a no

I wish the M4 Tour came in a 3HL

I've got an M3 HL in route to try

I just think a Tour M4 in HL would make more sense than an adjustable M3
