TENSEI CK White vs. CK Pro White

Has anyone tried both of these driver shafts side by side, or have compared? Trying to figure out if the $200 TM up-charge for the Pro White is worth it but have only hit the CK White. Thanks.

More concerned about feel and tip stiffness. Got fitted into the CK White 70X and was wondering whether the CK Pro White 70TX or 70S would be better for me. Thanks

Hard to say. If i were you i would order it with the stock shaft and have them either tip the stock shaft 1" or order it 1" long and do it myself (to make sure it was actually done). If you decide you don't like the results you can pick up a Pro white for around $200 on bst.

If it’s through TaylorMade it’s coming tipped an inch unless you specify otherwise — just be aware.

I would go with the stock shaft as well and see how everything goes on course. Grab a Pro later if you have the itch. Like J13 said, you’ll find one for the same price as the upcharge anyway.

I wouldn’t go far as to say one is great and one is crap (I play and love the white pro) but just keep in mind the tip sections on the two are very different. If you got fit into the regular one, I would venture to guess that changing nothing else but going to the pro shaft will change your fit parameters, as I would guess the pro drops launch and spin, so keep that in mind.

Here is the post I put in another thread regarding the regular vs the Pro version

IMO... You couldn't be further from the truth. Other than similar profiles they are not the same shaft, especially in the feel and dispersion categories. Pro version is like another category.

I have hit both and got rid of the regular as it just is not the same shaft as the Pro. I'm no pro, but even I can feel and see the difference when you switch between the shafts.

Do yourself a favor and go over to http://www.golfshaftreviews.info , pay your $10 for an annual membership and take a look at the shaft reviews / data that Russ puts on the site. He has a ton of data on all kinds of shafts and if you are into objective comparison there is no better site.

A little bit from the Tensei White Pro and regular Tensei shaft reviews is attached for reference

As TollBros has posted I believe, the non Pro has lower modulus fibers and no boron reinforced tip section. The Pro version will be lower launch, lower spin, and likely overall better feel, although that can be subjective.

They feel pretty different IMO but whether that's a good thing or bad thing is up to the individual. Premium shafts have feel but it's in certain sections of the shaft while cheap stock shafts the whole shaft seems to flex like a fishing pole. Again that's what the "feel" difference is to me.

I am in a similar situation on this. Got fitted yesterday and the pro white came out on top and certainly felt the best out of all the shafts I tried. My fitter recomended the pro white 60 tx.

My question is at my swing speed of 108 should I order it at the standard taylormade tipping if 1 inch or get it untapped(-1 inch by taylormade standards)?

I know this isn't the same and I know some people on here think differently but I've played "regular" stock offerings and also "premium" ones and I'll say I can tell a difference in both feel and dispersion. My old driver shaft was the Tensei blue (regular) and now game a premium Fuji and the difference is pretty noticeable.

If a Pro White is a good fit for you I would imagine that it will provide better results. How much so... not sure. Could be huge like mine, or not very much at all and just feel a bit smoother. I'll say this... Somehow my "low launch" Fuji remains very stable but also feels smooth all at once. Hard to describe. I haven't swung a "stock" shaft that has felt this way, but I still game them and get results that are just fine. I may however, dabble in more premium offerings over time such as replacing my regular Tensei hybrid shaft and maybe the 3w shaft, too.

The shaft was from a taylormade fitter during a demo day. Being as much I am assuming it was tipped to taylormade standard, but I didn't directly ask.

If you got great numbers with the stock shaft that was tipped then definitely stay with that. Too many people get fitted for something and then start monkeying around with little things only to compromise what was already a good fit. Do you recall what the spin numbers were with the Pro White when you were fitted? The only reason to consider not getting the shaft tipped was if the numbers were skirting the low side of normal.

With those numbers the $200 is well worth it. I have the Pro White and really enjoy it. IMO the ideal driver shaft for you is one of the best investments because over the years you can use the same shaft with the new head, assuming you stick with the same brand.

Assuming you also had good smash factor/ball speed numbers then that is absolutely money. The only reason at that point to forgo the standard 1" of tipping that TM does is if you play a draw that you want to keep in the air a little longer. But if you're high and straight or with a bit of cut, that is perfect.

Smash factor was around 1.46 if I remember correctly. I also prefer to play a bit of a cut over a draw. It sounds like the 60tx with the heard tipping should work out well for me.

Isn’t the tip on of the main differences? I thought there was a different material in tip of pro that the regular doesn’t have or vice versa? If true, I would think make a difference as to what works best for you

Yup, with those numbers I would take that straight to the bank and not look back.

The tip is the main difference but the shaft itself uses lower modulus fibers throughout and the weave at the butt end is much shorter.

One is china junk the other is real. Whether it's worth it or not is up to you and your game.

Where is a reputable shop we get a Tensei CK Pro White for $200?
