Famous People you ran into during a round of Golf...

Years ago I caught up with the Actor from Silver Bullet and Under Seige 2, Everette McGill, on a golf course in Flagstaff, AZ. So just wonder here met some Famous Person during a casual round of golf.

I ran into a wrestler one time, The Sandman. He mostly did ECW, with a few stints on WCW/WWE. Recognized him instantly. I live around the Philly area, and he resides around there as well. Course was Cobbs Creek Golf. Only played a few holes with him as he was just hitting around. Cool dude.

He seems like he'd be a terrible golfer, but that most have been awesome. Waiting for Cactus Jack or maybe Sabu to come running by and hit him with his cane. ECW could put on a show.

Dr. Tom Davis, former basketball coach of the Iowa Hawkeyes. Saw him on the practice green at Finkbine when my daughter and I were warming up to play, had a chat, got her pic with him, super guy. His group ended up behind us and it was somewhat slow ahead, so we had a few little conversations. She hit the downhill, island green on 13 playing from the men's tees with them watching, that was fun for her. He insisted on buying us beverages after the round - super guy. That's famous enough for any Hawkeye fan.

Fred "mad dog" Carter. He had just been named coach of the 76ers, and was up at Mt. Saint Mary's working at a basketball camp. Very nice guy. Played a few holes with him. This was at Carrol Valley which is a bit south of Gettysburg.

Sat next to shooter McGavin on a flight from Dallas to LA....sat down looked at him and said "Shooter"! Response was "if I had a nickel from every time I heard that". Had no idea what his first name was lol.

Stepped up to the first tee at a club in California, me and the girlfriends dad....he turns to me and says look we are playing with Jerry Rice today...cool guy, super nice and friendly..

We played at the "Killeen" course at the Killarney Golf and Fishing Club in Ireland. We played about five or six holes before we saw the group behind us, even though it was a slow pace. It turns out the Sultan of Brunei was playing behind us, and he had about 10-15 golf carts of bodyguards racing around right, left and ahead of his group. When we hit the halfway house, it was all set up with sandwiches and hors d'ouvres - the attendant told us to please stay away from the VIP spread! We never actually interacted with the Sultan, but he had the biggest entourage I've ever seen on a course.

Didnt play with them, but I went to Pebble in the late 90's for the first time and there was a large commotion on the clubhouse. I was there visiting and getting some golf shirts and such, and I asked what was going on. Turns out Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley and Reggie Jackson were playing on the course somewhere. On the way out, they were walking up and I have a few pictures (good quality for 1999, but crappy compared to today).

I saw Steve Harvey around 2009 at Grandover Resort in Greensboro NC. He was coming off the course and I was walking to the putting green. I tried not to act star struck and just gave him a head nod and what's up. He acknowledged with the same.

played a round with Michael Jordon Lawrence taylor and Penny Hardaway - in florida at turnberry island. They were playing 3 and I was a single.

Right place at the right time. They were playing 10k a hole and money exchanged hands on every hole.

LT was a mean son of a b**** but he crushed the ball.

Penny was a good golfer. MJ was painfully slow but had a few pars.

Didn't play with but hit balls next to Tony Romo last year. Great swing Great guy. Again crushed a ball.

Check out the profile pic. 2016 at Latrobe C.C. Made a long putt on 17...walked to the back of the green to pick up flagstick while my partners putted out. Arnold Palmer is sitting in his golf cart over on an adjacent cart path waiting on my partners to putt out without disturbing us. He gives me a smile and a famous thumbs up for my made putt. Everyone putts out, I say to my buds, "Hey guys, there goes Arnold Palmer" and they nearly died. He pulled up behind the 1st green to watch groups play that hole and to tee off #2. It's fairly close to the 18th tee so we stroll over, have a 5 minute conversation with him and get some pics. Thrill of a lifetime.

My buddy and I got matched up with a couple of guys on a course in Alaska one summer. One guy was big, one small. BTW, I am a big guy too. The big guy and I hit it off and started ribbing each other but I could see it bothered the little guy. After several holes the little guy comes up to me and says I need to be more respectful because I apparently didn’t know who I was playing against not to mention he was a retired 4-star general. He wouldn’t give his last name though. I walked over to the big guy and asked if I was disrespectful, because I thought we were bantering like rivals or friends do. He says, “don’t mind the major, his head gets a little too big sometimes, you’re up, see if you can find the fairway this time.” He and had a great time! I never found out who the big guy was, but just knew he was the real deal.

I teed off right behind Alice Cooper. He rope hooked his first tee shot, took a mulligan and hit a nice 5w right down the middle. The rest of the round, he had a pretty decent swing, I heard he is an addicted golfer.

Marcus Allen at Rancho San Marcos working on his chipping (hands of brick at that time). Complimented my hubby on how well he was chipping.

I don't know who like 90% of these people are. I am so oblivious I might have played with someone halfway-famous before and not recognized it. I did caddy in Red Green's group once (Canadians will know who that is), and Wayne Gretzky's brother's wife works at my store, so Keith comes in and gets club advice off of us once and a while. My dad once sold a full set of Taylormade Jetspeed and Speedblade stuff to Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys on his way through our town during a tour.

Fluff - Augustine Golf Club. A lifetime ago when he was still Tiger's caddie. At hole #2 when he was heading back to the clubhouse. I drove by thinking he looked a lot like Fluff. Confirmed when my playing partners spoke with him.

Ai Miyazato - Strawberry Farms Golf Club. At the range. She's so small. It's a wonder how she was able to compete in the LPGA, much less be ranked #1.

Darrell Green (Former Redskins player) - Journey At Pechanga. Big fan. Next to me at the range. I'm a lefty so had my back to him most of the time. Was there for an outing. Wasn't sure it was him till someone called out his name at the putting green.

Byron Scott - Oak Quarry Golf Club. At the practice area. iirc, someone in his group approached us on the putting green about attending some fund raiser.

Dennis Franz (Hill Street Blues TV series) - Don't remember the course. It was somewhere in LA about 15-20 years ago. Saw him on the tee box while waiting. I remember thinking "Hey, that's Sipowicz".

A bunch of TN Titans and Predators were at my former club in Nashville.

    Vince Gill and Amy Grant.

Mike Ditka at a course in Naples.

Played in a celebrity pro-am with country singer Steve Azar and one of the guys from Run DMC (he’d never been on a golf course before).

I told Barney Miller he couldn’t play through our group....I didn’t recognize him.

Spanky from the Little Rascals and Don Drysdale in my group once.

    Charley Pride.

    T. Boone Pickens joined our table for drinks once after a round.

Used to play golf with a few songwriters in Nashville and Faith Hill showed up to try and get a song out of one of them during lunch. It was before she was a superstar.

Jerry Reid owned a condo on a course I played in college and he’d follow us around drunk and heckle/bs with us.

Played at Crystal Downs and was hitting balls and casually chatting with a nice old guy....found out he was the recently retired Chairman of the Board of Shell Oil.

Played with him and his wife at a local public track about 25 years ago. They each had two bloody marys for breakfast and then they killed a 12 pack during the round. Friendly, absolute laugh riot—-both of them. Not accomplished golfers but a helluva lot of fun. That was a good day.

I use to marshal @ AT&T Pro Am. Saw a lot of celebrities, ( they look different in person, so I learned to keep my mouth shut) Kevin Costner nailed me with his approach shot " I was aiming at you and hoping you would stop my ball " I still have it in a shadow box.

How about Goydos? He seems like a good dude.

Playing Spanish Bay in Monterey. Michael Jordan and Charles Barkley playing behind us, but way behind us. Didn’t even realize it until the back nine. Saw them hit a few but never backed up for us to even casually run into them. This was many years before cell phones so no pictures.

I saw Steve Harvey around 2009 at Grandover Resort in Greensboro NC. He was coming off the course and I was walking to the putting green. I tried not to act star struck and just gave him a head nod and what's up. He acknowledged with the same.

Was he wearing a pinstripe Golf polo with nine buttons on it?

If any of you guys are bowlers, I once played a round with PBA bowler Patrick Allen. Bowls left handed but swings a golf club right handed.

And NFL Bill Parcells has been in a group in front of us before.

Marcus Allen, Too Tall Jones, Deron Cherry (I'm good friends with Deron,s brother). Met them all on a trip to Deron,s annual charity event in KC. We played a private course somewhere in Missouri. Pete Rose at Polo Trace in Fl, in the pro shop, it was pouring rain & we didn't play, but he was complaining about a slow group holding him up, pretty much screaming at the Pro about it. Dr J at Blue Heron near Atlantic City, great guy.

I've played in 13 LPGA pro-ams over the years, notably Morgan Pressel, Dottie Pepper, Laura Diaz, Lizette Salas, Angela Stanford, Karen Stupples. Not sure if that counts as famous people I "ran into at the golf course" or not.

The only random celeb I played 18 with was former NHL-er Rory Fitzpatrick. I assumed he'd smash the **** out of the ball being a former pro hockey player, but he quickly admitted he only plays 2-3 times a year.
