Bettinardi or Scotty

I am thinking about getting the new Scotty Newport 2 2018 as I am left handed and I want an Anser type putter. I had not thought about Bettinardi as i always liked Scotty's...

If you had the choice which would you have now, as a lot of people on here do not seem to like Scotty's recent offerings.....

I have used both but always go back to Scotty no matter what. I put great with my Newport for 2005. It’ll never leave my bag.

Neither atm. Tried about 4 Cameron's and they never did anything for me. I'm still looking to maybe add a scotty or betti. 50 50 as to which way I go, though I doubt either can knock the nike out of my bag.

New Bettinardi stuff is so much nicer, and even cheaper.

If you want an Anser style putter, I wouldn't go with either brand. I'd go with Byron Morgan.

Like nova said, the new bettinardi stuff is a lot nicer than scotty. I feel it is less gimmicky and marketing based, bettinardis are clean, sleek and worth the money. I feel like the older models are pretty interchangeable, more of what you want in looks and feel. I use an old BB8 Southpaw made back in 2002 and love it. I have had a few scotty, studio stainless, x5, futura, newport 2(2015 i believe), and i love the betti a lot more than any of them. putters are the one thing that reviews really don't mean much you though. Its all about what you like to look at and how it feels.

Yeah, I'm not trying to shill for Bettinardi, have no connection to them. I'm just saying that if you roll the new BB1 against the new Scotty Newport, for example, it's pretty obvious:

Bettinardi:

- Carbon steel

- No insert, light face milling

- Matte finish

- One-piece milled head, no weights

- No distracting logos, dots

- $130 cheaper

There is a Bettinardi BB1 353 putter on the UK Ebay, what are your thoughts of that putter. They are not big over here so have little or no chance of seeing one..... I think its from 2014......

I had several otr Cameron's and moved to a Bettinardi about 3 or 4 years ago. I like the weight and feel of my Bettinardi so much better.

You can find what you want with either brand. I’m a Scotty guy, but Bettinardi makes a phenomenal product. With putters in particular, I don’t believe there’s a value proposition. Go get fit, but what makes you happy, and get to work on the greens.

I always try to support people I feel are somewhat decent people without ever meeting them. So many stories about the way Cameron has done people on his climb to greatness. I gravitated towards bettinardi as his stuff was really cool and seemed to be a genuine guy. What was it about a year or two ago there was a big dust up on here over bettinardi and some incidents that happened. Turned me off on the brand. I can’t putt with a blade anymore so I putt with a lot of otr mallet putters any more but if I did go back to an anser style head it would be Byron or Yamada for sure. I’ve had 009’s and tournissue Bettinardi putters thay we’re truly beautiful putters. Had some Byron’s that were every bit as good as well. I’d also put Yamada up against anyone for quality.

But for the money, the Bett DASS is pretty exceptional in terms of feel.

I've rolled a few betti's at stores but never felt the need to move on from the otr scotty's I've owned (down to two now, a studio select laguna 2 and a kombi-s). I'm on the market for a Newport but yeah, I'm not a fan of the current offerings. Maybe it's time to give betti a 2nd look over

I would be all over that Solid Copper BB0 proto in lefty on Ebay if Anser style worked for me! That is a great price and a rare one for us southpaws.

Betti FTW! Scotty's old stuff was nice and no surprise most of that stuff came from the time period when Betti worked for him, but let's face it the new stuff is busy and annoying and Scott Cameron is just a sh!t burger of a person.

I wouldn't say I'm on team Bettinardi just yet, but I just got a Studio Stock 8 that I like more every time I use it. It's one of the best feeling putters that I've personally had the pleasure of using.

For the record I've had 2 of each in the past.

I love the look and variety in color and options on Bettinardis Plus they are cheaper. Great putters, they get my choice

Betti. As others stated, I like what Bettinardi does. His focus on manufacturing in the US. Being hands on and family involved with the business. Not someone that has a following just because. Scotty has some nice stuff, but some of the stupid marketing videos I've seen for Scotty stuff, makes me cringe and want to barf.

Your choice OP. I like Betti's but that means nothing to you. I have a buddy who wanted a Scotty, absolutely dead set on one. I sent him to a guy to get fitted for the best Scotty and he ended up with a PING! Whats the lesson? Once you hit the putter for you and you feel it, the only name on it is "yours".

My current putter stock is 2:1 Betti to Scotty. Could be 3:1 soon. I’m a fan of the fit face & fly milled; and deeper milled Scotty’s (recent offerings do nothing for me). A small thing, I also prefer the deep etched Lamkin grips over the spongy Matadors.

If we're talking the current OTR lines...Betti hands down!

Scotty for me. I have a Newport 2 and just picked up a Newport 3. I too am left handed and was thrilled when I finally saw a left handed Newport 3. I love the look.

Decent putter good overall look but very basic on the Betti spectrum. Not a bad putter at all, very solid. Has large honeycomb killing so it’s more of a firm face with a little bit more of a click

I own both Scotty and Bettinardi. Noone says you can't have both. they are both great in their own ways.
