Anyone in the Charlotte, NC area?

I am moving to the Charlotte area in a few months and I am looking for a new home course. Does anyone live or play in this area? Can you recomend some good courses?

I live in Salisbury, about 30 miles NE of Charlotte. I have played a TON of golf in Charlotte. What part of Charlotte are you moving to? There are several really good courses in the area. Are you looking to join a private club, or just looking for a "home" course.

As far as the upper echelon courses, those were right on in a previous reply.

Pine Lake Country Club is a great course with a reasonable membership, if you are living in the Mint Hill, Matthews area. North of Charlotte, in the Huntersville area, you have River Run, which is an AWESOME track, but pricey might be an underestimated description of their membership fees. Northbridge, in the same area, might be worth looking at, as is Skybrook, which is Semi-private. There is also a group of courses called the Carolina Trail, which includes Highland Creek, The Tradition (N Charlotte), The Divide (matthews), Charlotte Golf Links, and Waterford (S Charlotte) all in the same membership. I have not played Waterford or Charlotte Golf Links, but the other 3 are good. Also, Firethorne and Olde Sycamore might both be Semi Private courses worth looking at. Firethorne is a really tough track with an interesting layout.

My favorite in the area is The Point on Lake Norman. It is a Greg Norman course, and is all you can handle. It is very exclusive and high priced though.

I'm a member of Northstone CC in Huntersville. Fully private and the course is AWESOME. P.B. Dye design that is loads of fun to play. Not sure what the cost is as my membership was free but I hear it is pretty reasonable.

I live at Olde Sycamore CC, not a member but, Pine Lakes is a classic old course my H.S. team played there 20 yrs ago, so i always got to play plus me and the pro were friends, very nice course havent played it in abour 10 yrs now thought. there are a lot of nice course's and surrounding area though, if you can get on Charlotte CC do it love the place. ranks up there with Pinehurst #2 to me, but the area around is not good its like going to Agusta you wouldn't know such a nice course was there. I caddied for Wayne Levi during Open Q, I think it was arond 83' maybe. Welcome to the area if you come.

I think the CC is a bit pricey for what you get, unless you like saying you live in the same 'hood as alot of the Carolina Panthers. The resort is a fun course that is reasonably priced. I used to work there and play there ALOT. Good practice facility too.

I love that course. I have played tourny's there. But I'm from Raleigh so I dont know the area too well.

I just moved to Charlotte last week!! (Currently staying on the south end of town, towards Mathews) Email sent, maybe we can get a round in?

Lived there for 7 years and moved up to the Raleigh area but still have friends and family there so I am there alot.

If you need any recomondations just PM me with any questions and I am always up for a short road trip to play golf in that area...........

John Gamble down on Central Ave. good club guy crappy part of town though, actually its around the corner from Charlotte CC, my favorite course in the state but haven't played in years. I'm up to play but just weekends mostly till time changes.

I also think John Gamble is the best club guy in Charlotte.

I live in Charlotte and have gotten work done at Golf Galaxy (the guy there is actually really good) and by the guys at Leatherman Golf at Tryon & Tyvola (it is only a couple of miles from my girlfriends apt)
