Eamon Lynch just said on Golf Channel that Rory spent a couple hours with Faxon this week.

He’s number one this week in strokes gained putting. Must have been one **** of a lesson. About time.
Interesting. Hopefully Fax can help him. I always thought Rory putted best when he was experimenting with left hand low. He seemed to always give it a pure roll when doing that. Obviously he was never all that comfortable with that as he didn't stick with it. When he putts conventional he always seems to finish very high. He thins more putts than any world class player ever should. That messes with his speed control and his confidence IMO. I hope he finds it. When he is in full flow no one can hang with him.

Won his majors using a 34.25" putter. Then had the great idea of going to a 33". Didn't putt well. Goes back to a 34.25" version and leads the tournament in strokes gained putting. Genius.

Rory is probably my favorite golfer on Tour. Hope he gets his putter worked out and starts winning again.

If Fax can't help him, it's time for him get the c3i and square strike wedges in his bag so he never has more than a tap-in.

Working with Faxon is the smartest thing he's done for his game in ages.

I just hope he sticks with him as McIlroy has chopped and changed putting coaches a lot in the past.

Re: the putter it was apparently Phil Kenyon that had him move to a 33" putter. He never looked comfortable with it.

Faxon should be his putting coach going forward. 6 strokes gained on the greens in 2 rounds is amazing.

Ive always been a big Faxon fan. He really loves the game. There was an inside the tour on him a while ago, his workshop is very impressive. He keeps all his clubs, non wrx style. Had them perfectly organized and shiny too!

Rory now up to 7.6 strokes gained putting this week. Incredible turnaround for him. I hope Faxon becomes a permanent adviser for him on the greens.

Turns out Rory can putt. He just had to stop thinking about his stroke, and start thinking about rolling the rock to the hole. No process, just hit the ball into the hole.

He just needed to realize how good he can be with the flat stick. Confidence.

We'll see where this takes him for the next few weeks.

    RM: Nothing.
BF: So why don't you do that when you're putting?
For those of you who don't know, Rory's SG putting of 10+ means he took 10 fewer strokes on the greens than the average player at the API. Heck he was 5 better than Tiger, who putted really well.

Rory jumped from 124th in SG:P this year to 23rd in a single week. Wow.

Faxon's putting was always great, except under pressure. One of his big thoughts was that he "didn't care" if he made the putt. That is a hard mental trick to pull off when the tourney is on the line.

Very impressive stuff from Rory.

Nike drivers got worse, not better over the years. One report said that one of the reasons for the increase in driver distance last year was due to all the Nike players moving to Callaway or TaylorMade.

Frankly, Nike equipment was horrible. However, I will specify that as far as our store, if you wanted "Nike" we would do our best to talk you out of it, unless you were willing to pay for Nike OVEN, which was the premium Tour side we had access to. Different feel, materials, and incredibly more expensive. You know, the stuff that worked.
