Cheating

You should probably make this a poll, cause not many guys are gonna be honest when posting.

On a couple occasions Ive been caught out, but only cause I did something I didn't know was illegal...soon learned in all the cases though!

I never cheat. My dad cheats though. The guy shoots a 105 that day. He posts an 84. I hate him. He needs to die.

No, this is a game of honor, cheating at it goes against the core values of the game. Last weekend i did play in a tournament with a guy who cheated. We were playing a 2 man tournament, and one opponent was 15 feet in 3 with a stroke, so his partner, laying 4, 30 feet, 5 past my partner and directly in line with the hole picked up. My partner then putted, then the opponent found a way to 4 putt for a 7 net 6. Then his partner dropped his ball, said he had marked it before he picked up and made the put for a 5, saving them a stroke. He then proceeded to bring it up 3 more times during the round as to make sure we knew he didnt cheat, but we know he did. If he wanted to cheat in a low tier tournament he will live with it, i have zero respect for a guy i have now played with a total of 1 time in my life and will avoid playing with the cheat from here on out.

I'm not gonna lie I have cheated before in recreational fun rounds, but never in a tournament. I have thought about it many times, but something inside me always tells me no dont do that, so I just dont.

I have zero tollerance for people who cheat in tournaments.

I will call them out every time.

When I first started this game, I did take a few liberties with improving my lie but that was only because all my playing partners at that time did as well. However, now that I'm hooked on tourney golf, I play by the rules and found myself really enjoying the game so much more. Besides, when it comes time to play for money, all the strokes I can get because I have a true 21 handicap comes shining through....... :yes:

The only liberty I ever take is the occassional, leaning, one handed swipe from inside 2 ft that veres off because I just wanted to move to the next hole. Its a speed of play thing for me. I won't count that as a stroke in friendly play. Other than that I don't fix lies, not count penalites, ground clubs, or any rule that I know of(certainly don't know them all).

Come to think of it, I should probably start counting that gimme miss. It'll raise my handi and I'll be better off in tourneys!

but i guess they can hide behind the anonymity of an internet forum

i'd improve my lie on recreational rounds, mainly because the course conditions can be a bit s*** at times, or when its on a cart path and i remember how much i love my irons

Apparently. You could play it off the cart path if you wanted. I have had to before. Had high rough on both sides of the path, so no good relief. Just had to pick it, and try not to cry by the scratches that it left on my 8 iron.
