Always wondered why Player wasn’t invited to tee off long ago ... was it his sketchy rep or maybe they would wait until he was 80 since he will be doing the Thursday 1st tee gig with Tiger and Phil

I was happy to see that they were going to stay with him for a couple of days this week. I'm sure Part 2 will be good too.

He was still playing in the Masters until 2009. Not sure if he was asked before 2011 but agreed to do it for 2012.

GP is a lot of things, but being the original FIGJAM is undisputed.

Gary seems like a good person, a family man and an ambassador of the game.

His strengths are def. self confidence and self promotion. :)

He has done a lot of good. Sometimes he should be seen and not heard. If he gets off script, he says some really cringe-worthy stuff that people could easily take the wrong way. Can't argue with his work ethic though.

Watching him at the Drive, Chip and Putt this year handing out some awards...Gary seems like a creepy old man to be honest.

Myself and maybe 10 other people walked a practice round with him in '74-'75 at the Colonial. He could not have been more gracious or entertaining, and put on a ball striking clinic. He gets a lot of flak for being full of himself, but I've been a fan since that day back in the day.

Gary is the best. Just ask him. :D

Yes Gary is full of himself, but will be greatly missed when he is gone. Then again, that might not be for very long time.

9 majors over a fairly long career beating some all time greats along the way. Maybe we wouldn't take it for granted if we weren't reminded of it so much. :D

I love Gary Player, he is an absolute legend, this guy beat Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer on a regular basis, with not a lot of support

Gary Player is recognizable. His dad gave him a solid piece of advice early in his career.

Create a brand. That's when he started wearing black and became the black knight.

Great spokesman and advocate for the game.

And as the records show, Gary has only (1) jacket despite being a 3-time Masters Champion.

What if you tell them you lost it? Are they literally going to refuse to give you one for the award ceremony? Or maybe they give you a new one, then a couple of days later you get "the letter".

The official one is kept at the club and must be worn at all times when at the club (when not playing the course, of course).

They give the winner a loaner to wear around town. Multiple sizes are kept at the club.
