Breckenridge Area Summer Golf?

I’ve taken a dozen trips to the Breckenridge/Keystone area over the years, but always to ski. This summer we are headed up there for a week to escape the heat in Scottsdale. Any tips on a few public-access courses to play? Willing to drive ~45 minutes but will be based right in Breckenridge. I don’t mind a couple expensive rounds but also interested in any that are considered good values. Thanks in advance!

Breckenridge golf club wont be cheap but best course in the county!

So going to be hard to find good values in the area, and I’m sure others would have more knowledge than I. We go back from Tennessee for the winter and summer, and the summer months are absolutely spectacular. As mentioned, Breckenridge golf club has 3 9 hole courses designed by jack Nicklaus and is the only municipal Nicklaus design in the world - definitely worth a play. Keystone has two courses, the river and the ranch ( I prefer river, but both are great ), and in Silverthorne there is the raven at three peaks which frankly is my favorite of all of them.

Enjoy the time, and let us know what you end up choosing. My family just took a trip to Scottsdale in March and absolutely loved golf out there.

2016 was a pretty snowy year. This year, we have had below-average snowfall, so I believe the mountain courses will be ready and in good shape perhaps sooner than anticipated.

One way to save some money at Breckenridge is (if it works for you) play their twilight discounted rate. It starts at 2:30 and is substantially lower than the normal day rate. Check their website. This time of year you're good to a little after 8 with light. The twilight rate only covers 18 holes not all you can play. If you get done early and want more they have a space available replay rate.

Breckenridge or Keystone River are both good calls. I think the views are much better and courses more fun than the vail/ beaver creek courses.

Keystone River, The Raven & Breckenridge are the best close by that area.

If you can handle the risk of thunderstorms, you can tee off at 2:30pm with an $85 twilight rate (includes cart); as soon as you finish, they also have a 9-hole $30 super twilight walking special so you could play the other 9. 27 holes for $115 is a pretty good deal.

Any updates on the golfing conditions at Breck, Keystone or Raven?

Heard from a friend that Keystone was pretty naked out due to the dry warm summer.

I played nine at Breck about two weeks ago and was happy with the conditions. Since then Summit County has gotten some rain which can only benefit the courses.

Was just out there and played Raven and both courses at Keystone. Raven was BY FAR THE WORST, apparently having trouble with their irrigation system so some areas were soaked while others were brown and dry. Greens there were very patchy (think Billy Horschel at the US Open at Chambers Bay) as at times is was like putting on a piece of cauliflower. Love the course and the scenery, but would skip it and hope they figure things out for next year.

Keystone was better - the River course had a few greens that were a bit patchy, but other than that was in great shape.

I personally prefer the Keystone Ranch course to the River course. I like the Breck courses (Nicklaus 3 9 holes) a lot!
