i dont know the exact numbers but i know that according to Golfstat which is the important golf rankings that are looked at by college coaches....every team in the SEC is ranked in the top 55 that is pretty amazing and every team except Vandi are going to NCAA Regionals......i know my friends at Ole Miss told me they are pumped about NCAA and feel really good about going, Ole Miss was ranked as low as 16 this year, i think they are 25 or 26 now on golfstat

There actually is a kid who was on my high school team who plays for Florida now. I really didn't think he was that good, and as a sophomore, he maybe played in 1 varsity A match (we had two varsity teams). I graduated that year, and he may have had some top 20's in an AJGA or two, but from what I heard, the coach at Florida happened to see him, and liked his swing, and now he finished second in a tournament for Florida this year

i am going to play at south carolina next year and i know all the guys on the team

Nice to have some Gamecocks on this forum. I am a former athlete at USC and I now work with the football team as a Grad Assistant. I have talked to Puggy several times in the fall during the football season and he told me I am more than welcome to practice on the practice facility ya'll have behind the baseball field. I have been taking advantage of that.

anyone else know any SEC players and what it might take to play in the SEC?

I'll tell you what it takes: LENGTH!!!

That's all the big time coaches are caring about now days. If you can bust it off the tee, they figure they can straighten, no pun intended, everything else out.

Just spend your practice time trying to hone in on how to KILL the ball and you'll have a chance.

I played at Alabama. The SEC has the top golfers in the country. Just check out the top 25 rankings and where your good pros went to school. Unless you are for sure you will be one of the top 3 golfers on that team, it is better off going somewhere where you will play. It's great and all to be on the team at a big school, and that's fine if that is all you care about, but I would recommend you go where you will play. Your goal should be to go to a school that plays against the best competition and one where you will be "The Man". That is how you will get better. No sense in going somewhere where you might play one or two tournaments a year.

A guy on my team currently transferred from Alabama (played in their top 5 but parents made him transfer home because of certain reasons) and his scoring average was about 72 but last year his scoring average was closer to 70.

I know a few players that play at USC and a kid who transferred from Florida. I also know a couple of kids who are going to Florida, USC, Ole Miss, Alabama, Auburn and Georgia next year. A couple of them that are going to these schools aren't really that impressive in my opinion but most of them are solid.

This is ABSOLUTELY WRONG.

ole miss coach does not take walk on's..........Ole Miss has a sick team.....really good young team that will be really good in the next few year.......

Well, he was recruited and offered a scholarship coming out of high school but he stopped playing for a little while and the coach has invited him on to the team. Not really a walk on, but he isn't receiving any money.
