Definitely better - there are a lot of guys on here that have given me a better perspective on course management and outlook on the game. While the BST board has not been good for me or my game, but all in all WRX has given me opportunities and networking I wouldn't have had. For example, in my bio, the write-up I did opened a bunch of doors for me to take advantage of that has helped my game.

No, not really. I work hard on my game, and this forum hasn't had much to do with that. I have, however, learned a lot about equipment, and I enjoy interacting with other people who are passionate about this game.

    I devour information.

I am not sure the endless rabbit hole of information present on WRX is always healthy (though I am quite thankful for its existence). It’s always there when I need it and also there when I don’t.

Def better. I always worked on my game, but without much insight. I not only found a great teacher, but also have formed a solid idea of what I think matters in my swing from all the input.

Not to mention i play much better with a lighter wallet. Hemispheric balance is what they call it.

WRX has confirmed a lot of the swing thoughts and techniques I developed myself over the years pre-internet, so that's nice. And WRX has introduced many new ideas, but you gotta separate the chaff from the wheat, and I have chased some stuff that just doesn't work for me but also learned some new ideas.

As for equipment related stuff, I don't get or agree with most of the kerfuffle, and 90% of the quality of any shot still depends on how you swing the club.
  • jsandersojsanderso Members Posts: 108
    Better.

I had no idea that shaft torque could be contributing to a lack of control before coming here. After testing a lot of different clubs and shafts, my shots are going where I aim.

I don't think it's impacted my actual playing or swing. I don't do a whole lot in the instruction forum (that's a dangerous place at times). But it's certainly made me much more aware and knowledgeable (having virtually no prior knowledge, that didn't take much) about equipment and what might work for me.

I guess technically worse. Although that doesn’t tell the whole story, or really any of it for that matter.

I was at my best long before I joined WRX. I’m 8 strokes worse now, so maybe on some level you could argue it’s made me worse. It might also have something to do with no longer playing 200+ rounds a year and practicing 2-3 hrs a day ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Better no doubt. Now i regularly crush 300+ yards drive and my iron play is pinpoint accurate. And don't even get me started on my short game and putting, I've gotten so good it's starting to get boring.. next stop PGA Tour baby image/derisive.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':derisive:' />

No difference. Practice and good teaching make the game easier. WRX has brought me endless hours of enjoyment and actually saves me money.

No difference, because I don't play anymore than I did before. More knowledgeable about equipment though.

Better. Understand the swing a lot more, corrected a lot of misconceptions I carried and highlighted areas of improvements to work on and brought awareness to some subtle , nuanced things that high level ball strikers innately do.

Definitely better. I used to think the monthly golf magazines were where to go to get info on the golf swing. Things that I've learned on here have been much more impactful to my game than anything I ever read in one of those.

Better. Learned what my lifelong swing flaw was (early extension), guys like Monte's tips/videos helped me a great deal with it. My short game is not what it was as a kid, but tips here have helped. Same with some health related issues (tennis/golfers elbow) tips as they related to golf.

Now, has this been worth the amount of money I have spent on new equipment over the past 10 years because of this website? Probably debatable...... :^)

I think of it more as a place to have a few laughs and bicker about our hobby than a resource, though, I’ve found some good stuff that I’m sure will be helpful...one day.

This site has definitely helped from a technical perspective, i.e., component specs and club building knowledge that's for sure. I don't subscribe to the current/trendy teaching methods so I pretty much ignore that stuff. I know my own swing well enough to get by.

I do find some of the back and forth between some of the more vocal members to be entertaining though. Sometimes it's even funny. image/smile.png' class='bbc_emoticon' alt=':)' />

Better for sure (or at least more informed!). Knowledge gained regarding my equipment has definitely saved me strokes, I try to stay away from the instruction page though as its too easy for me to fall down that rabbit hole! "save 3 strokes using this tip", "straight 300+ yard drives no problem with this swing tweak" etc etc etc.............its a wonder I dont break 60 with regularity (instead of 90!!)

The site has definitely helped with my exaggeration. I no longer hit a 160 yard 7 iron...it's now 210+.
