Vineyard Vines or Peter Millar golf polos?

Which ones? I have a bunch of performance long sleeve button ups from VV but no short sleeve golf polos. Needing some for this year ( pulling the ‘ol double duty work/golf shirt). Peter Millar summer collection seem pretty nice as well. I’m a bigger dude. 250lbs and wear a XL in the VV performance long sleeves. I guess fit will be a big determining factor. Without a sale they are the same price.

Just getting some feedback from anyone with either one of these.

I would go Peter Millar if I were you. The Vineyard Vine collars will break down a lot quicker than they should and you’ll end up getting little ripples in the collars after multiple washes. Never have those problems with the PM polos. And the VV fabric is just a tad thicker than the PM is which is a bit of a deal breaker when it’s over 90 out. I have plenty of both and never wear the VV ones.

I have an embarrassing number of PM shirts and they're terrific quality. Highly recommend.

Love all my Peter Millar stuff. That’s the route I’d go.

I think I like the crown logo on the back of the PM shirts.

Love VV regular polos, their performance stuff not so much

Have had issues with runs/snags/whatever you want to call it way too easily

I have not had that issue with Millar stuff for what its worth

I’ve got a bunch of each (34 if age matters, ha). Love both, but if you had to put a gun to my head, I’d say PM summer comfort. I actually size down on both.

For those that have Peter Miller polos - I have hear that they run big. I wear a Large in most every polo - Nike, Ralph Lauren, Patagonia, etc. would a Large in PM be too big? I dont want sleeves around my elbows but also don’t want a compression top either.

I own both. I own enough of both to have worn and washed them multiple times. Both hold up fine, no issues on my end. Whether it’s work or the course. I like PM a bit better but simply due to style and design, nothing else. Both are great brands and produce great products. I only buy sale price though, $90 for a polo is nuts.

If you wear a large in most the Peter Millar Summer Comfort or E4 you should be a medium. You probably will be a large in their cotton shirt if you get any of those.

i have peter millar summer performance polos - i swear by them. slowly i'm getting rid of my nike stuff and getting millar. just bought a pair of millar summer performance golf pants in 'raspberry' at nordstrom last night -- $50.

I like both but do find both run a little big with PM running the biggest. I am just over 40 for reference so not sure where I fit into the above:)

If you can find the Peter Millar 'Tour Fit' polos, they fit much better, IMO.

A more modern cut in the sleeves and a slightly tapered body. Very similar to what you'd find in the cuts of RLX, Greyson, Matte Grey, etc.

Both are great... can't go wrong

I absolutely love all of my Peter Millar shirts. Can't go wrong there.

I turned 40 last fall. No one told me I was not supposed to wear Vineyard Vines on the course!

Another vote for PM. But I also love the quality of Bobby Jones and some of the deals are crazy good

PM is top notch. and the only brand I'm a medium in! (i'm a large in all other brands, golf or not golf)

Only issue, like all brands, is the collars often roll up, so i typically only buy the collars that are the same material as the shirt, not the polyester material...if that makes any sense. Not a PM issue though

I’m 43 and wear both. PM is about a perfect fit for me. VV in the same size is actually a bit loose. Quality is good on both, but PM seems to have a bit more luxury feel to it, while VV is a bit more casual.

Actually, I’m 44!!!! Man, old age must be getting to my faculties already. I can’t even remember my own age anymore!!

Now see, I'm 55 and guess what. I wear whatever the F I want to wear!! :-) PM and VV are both nice shirts. I have one VV shirt that faded pretty quickly. I like the fit of both but probably go PM as my fave. Also like the FJ shirts.

On the whole, I like the cut of VV better than most PM that I've owned. I have a performance material PM and the sleeves hit my elbows. VV has a little shorter sleeve.

Now...I do have a PM Seaside Wash that is perfect. Mosty cotton (which I like better than performance), short cut sleeves, and super breathable. Perfect shirt.
