Which shoes are best for wide feet?

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

I’m sure this has been discussed, but I have wide feet and am finding it hard to find good shoes. Want to go spikeless this time around. As a reference, I’m coming from the TW 14 which were the best shoes I’ve owned. I walk all the time, 3-4 rounds per week, and course is often quite wet or moist. Thanks.

Ecco biom hybrid 3 GTX

I have always complained about narrow shoes, and these are perfect.

I wear 11EE and have had my best luck with Adidas. I prefer Boa closures. I got some "Powerband Boa Boost" on closeout from RBG and have been very pleased. I like them better than my previous shoes which were Adidas 360 Boas.

Footjoy Dryjoys Tour come in wide and extra wide. Extra wide = 4E.

In my experience, FJ just makes a pointy/narrow toe box. I have XW in the first edition of Hyperflex, still too narrow in the toe box.

The Ecco in reg fits way better.

I don't think my foot is super wide, but wide is definitely needed. As I said the TW 14 was perfect for me- however wide that is is what I would want.

Tons of info on the new Ecco here: http://www.golfwrx.com/forums/topic/1590368-ecco-biom-hybrid-3/

I only see medium as available width for the Ecco- would that run wide or would I specifically need that shoe in wide size?

regular in ecco is wider than most in wide, at least in my experience.

The thing is, the toe box does not narrow down like most other shoes.

I have very wide feet. Ecco's off the shelf are great.

I have also had luck buying WIDE Adidas shoes. But the Eccos far and away will lead this category, IMO.

This is why I am reading this thread - girlfriend bought me a pair of adidas powerband In wide online for my birthday.... not very wide!

If Adidas don't fit you, you must have seriously wide feet!

Adidas run narrow. But their wide had plenty of room. Another vote for those or eccos which, as others have noted, are wide in their regular sizes.

Nike’s are even more narrow than Adidas. I’ve had to go a half size up and go wide for nikes to fit. Shame too since they usually make the nicest looking shoes but offer the least # of selections in wide.

I have never had luck with Adidas wide shoes, neither has my son. We both wear wides, he is a 12 and I wear 14. I have ten pairs of Ecco's, not all of them are the same. I have had success with FJ wide and extra wide products. But Adidas, no bueno for me or my son.

Saw this post and thought I wrote it. Looking for a new pair of shoes and currently own TW14s wides also. Actually have considered buying another pair of them but good to have some options.

Lol. I went with the Ecco Biom 3 hybrids based on the love here. Just don’t know if my size will be correct as EU runs kind of odd with American sizing.

I really liked the fit of the New Balance, but unfortunately they don't come with a Boa closure, so my heels tend to slip out.

...what size do you normally wear? Usually my perfect size is 10.5 or 11 wide and the Ecco 44s have always fit well for me.

I also ordered them based off of reviews on here and the crazy good 30% discount on shoes.com. I'll be receiving them next week and will report back how they fit compared to my TWs.

I'm in a very similar boat. I've been rocking TW13's since they came out and nothing has pushed them from my "walking shoe" spot. Riding, doesn't matter, footjoy pro sl's in wide are fine, but walking 18 is a different story. I usually fit very well into new balance running shoes and am going to try out their new Minimus Tour (1007). I think part of what I like about the TWs is the near, or zero drop of them. These New Balances are similar in that regards. It's not spikeless though. The other New Balance minimus golf shoes are though.

I've had Ecco's and can't really agree with the wide thing. It just goes to show how different everyone's feet are. My gunboats are wide from my fat cankles all the way out to my foot, so a wide toebox is important, but so is the rest of the shoe.
