What's your usual iron distances?

What are your guys carry distances? I feel like I want to hit it further but I think my distances are pretty average. I should just be happy with it, but I'm just never satisfied and always looking to make swing changes to try and get more distance. I finally found the feeling of loose arms/wrist and hit the ball pretty good...

These are what I get on SkyTrak and seem to be consistent with what I hit on the range.

I feel like I'm solid in the mid and short irons for my cap (4.5), but in my long irons I'm a sort hitter due to poor contact.

Pretty close to mine as well. (3-iron: 215) I think I'm pretty comfortable with these and don't really think I need to hit it any further. I haven't replaced my old Taylormade R9 3 wood, because the new 3 woods are a bit longer and screw up my gaps.

As to the OP...your distances are better than average. Always nice to find some meat on the bone if you can find it. I found 6-8 yards on my irons this spring and I wasnt even looking. Its gotten my course strategy in a bit of a flux right now till I get used to it.

Seems like maybe you have contact issues that are affecting distance as you move up the bag if you hit 60* 90 yards but 7 iron only 163. Either that or you swing really hard at lob wedge and not longer irons.

Here's the "number" I currently have in mind for each of my clubs as a starting point (plus or minus wind, etc).

SW(54) 85

GW(50) 96

PW(45) 108

9i(40) 120

8i(35) 132

7i(30.5) 143

6i(27) 154

5i(24) 164

4i(21) 172

3h(19) 185

2h(17) 195

D(12) 220

I also have a LW but only use it around the greens or in bunkers, no idea of a full swing distance.

The numbers mean nothing without lofts.

All of mine go about the same distance. It took me a while to master the perfect sidearm release to get the helicopter flight. My prior overhand method was all wrong. Lots of club breakage that way. Top tip. Always throw forward so you don’t have to go back, that slows down play.

I'm good for about 70 yards on a typical 60º toss.

It's wild, but I can throw a golf club farther than I can throw a football!
