Wedge ball position

Relative to the chest and not the feet, what's an ideal ball position for partial and full wedge shots? I tend to have no issues using the bounce on wedges when I play it forward (left pec or so) but with fuller shots can get steep and get it fat with deep divots. I'm thinking my ball position is drifting too far back without me noticing so I'm looking to re-calibrate slightly.

I was taught to play them just forward of the sternum.

Measure in relation to your sternum. Ball off left instep with a very narrow stance with wedge, just in front of the sternum. With a wide stance and driver, it's offf the left arm pit."

That's something good for me to continue to remind myself. My tendency is the play the ball too far back if I'm not careful.

Standard shot is the same position - about left pec/sternum area. The narrow and slightly open stance makes it appear as if the ball is farther back in the stance.

According to Pelz, the ball should be centered between your ankles. Never more forward, as this leads to compensation (knee slide etc.) in the swing

Wasn't Jack a fan of one ball position for all clubs (just change stance width and open/shut body/clubface)?

I'm not any good really but having one ball position for all my shots has really helped my consistency. I play every shot just a hair forward of sternum, and change my feet width depending on club. Only outlier is driver which I play off my lead heel.

Bunker and chip shots, also require some change in ball position.

I setup with my hands on the inside edge of my lead leg for all clubs (full swing) - when the clubs are soled flat they pretty much set my ball position. When soled flat each club will have varying degrees of shaft lean built in (and the 3w, driver actually lean away from the target). Makes it simple.

If u want em high ball forward. Low, ball back.

I play my full swing wedges (48*, 52*, and 56*) directly in line with my sternum. With a centered ball position I play a little trap draw with these clubs.
