Looking for opinion on golf balls

right now i play a Nike power distance soft ball and just went out last night and bought some Titleist NXT Extreme balls. My question is that are these balls relatively similar or is the titleist head over heels bettr than the Nike? Cause im afraid i may have just paid $10 more for a ball just for the name Titleist. What are your thoughts?

The guy at Dick's said that the titleist was better but im sure he was also just trying to sell a higher priced ball. I'm just curious if anyone else thinks its better than the Nike balls.

If you want pure distance, don't mind a harder feeling ball, and don't need much spin around the greens, the Extreme is a good choice. My guess is you'll miss the softness and short game spin of the Nike compared to the Extreme.

That's what i figured and was also worried about. so i took back the titleist and went back to the Nike Power Soft's. When i did that i then noticed the Nike ignite's. they were $25 for a 3 piece construction ball which was the chepeast i saw at Dick's. Now im contemplating with myself about getting those. But then again i dont know if i really need a 3 piece ball. Im about 14 handicap and i dont think im at the point i need a nicer ball like that. But it has at least got me wondering.

If u want better control on the greens, u definately should be getting better golf balls. I'm sick and tired of my distance balls (Titleist Extreme, Precept's Laddie X, Top Flite XL Distance & any other ones I have tried) rolling off the greens!!! I'm just waiting to use up my supply of cheaper, low spin balls and start using either mid to higher spin balls.

Interestingly enough, in the Golf Magazine article, the Nike power softs had more driver distance and spun more on sand wedge shots than the ignite. All for 10 dollars less. I have played the power soft and ignite and prefer the power soft in performance and of course price. Once again though, your results may be different.

Well that is good to know. Thanks for that info. I really don't put too much spin on my shots anyway. Most of the courses i play at, if i gt enough height on my shot once it hits the green it pretty much stops with very little roll.

I played the Nike PD Soft last year and could find no better ball combine both distance and spin, at that time, for the price of around $15/dozen. I still have quite a few in use though I switched to the 2008 TM LDP Red to see how much differently a premium priced ball performed. At the level of my game, I haven't found a significant advantage.

Titleist are good, excellent even, i don't like them as a brand but i respect that they know what they are doing with the golf balls.

the NXT extreme is a good distance ball, yes there is a price premium but you're getting a premium product so don't feel bad. With balls everything's very subjective but you did get one of the best distance balls out there.

Has anyone hit the Nike Power Straight or Power Distance balls?
