PX LZ shaft in irons, What shaft in wedges?

I’m getting a set of irons with PX LZ 5.5 and trying to figure out what to put in new wedges. Should I match the PX 5.5 or go with the standard Wedge Flex in DG? There seems to be about a 15 gram weight difference.

I got to meet the Vokey wedge marketing director a couple of years ago. He said Bob Vokey suggests using the the same shaft and flex in your PW and GW as in your irons (players often hit them full); for your SW and LW - unless you hit them full a lot - have your iron shaft, only softstepped.

If you really want different shaft and feel in your wedges, go with it. Otherwise consider Vokey's plan.

Soft step some PX LZ 6.0. They are 120g and will give you the same feel with a bit of extra weight.

I use the PX LZ 5.5 shaft in my irons as well. I made the switch last year and put them in my wedges. I play a 50, 54 and 58 wedge set up and have loved having them in my wedges. I play a lot of full shots with wedges and I feel like I can more closely control my trajectory and distances. Hope this helps.

I have PX LZ 6.0 in my irons and SM7 wedges. No problems at all.

i went PX LZ 6.0 in irons and wedges, i do hit my wedges a touch too high and may re shaft with standard PX 6.0 in wedges.

LZ 6.5 ssx1 in wedges, 6.0 in irons

Thanks for the reply’s. I’ll either go with the standard 5.5 or soft step a 6.0. Trying to decide between the T7’s or SM7.

i just ordered some sm7's with PX LZ 6.5's soft stepped twice. I like the extra weight, but like the softer feeling shaft.

I'm in LZ 6.0s in my irons and have tried PX 5.5, s200 wedge, reg xp115, s400, and didn't like any of them. Tried LZ 5.5 and they were just too soft. I have some LZ 6.0s I'm going to try next.

My 52* SW is matched to heavier PX 6.0 iron shafts, and LW is always DGS200. Also, my PW, SW, and LW are all the same length as my 9i. For me, it increases SW and how they feel. However, if I were playing lighter iron shafts like PX LZ, I wouldn't match my SW with irons. Shaft weight is the deciding factor for me.

I have LZ 6.0 in irons and wedges. I was using DG wedgeflex/S200 in 50/54/58 but decided to put the LZ in them to match my irons, mainly to get the same feel since I use my 50 and 54 for full shots routinely. Only had a couple of months with them but so far I'm liking the change.

I actually ordered my wedges with PX L Z 6.0 as an experience and liked these shaft so much that I now play them in my irons too.
