Need help! Looking for help to launch 3 wood higher

Looking to upgrade my 2017 M2 tour 3 wood to a shaft that will help me launch the ball higher while also helping me avoid the dreaded hook. The current set up is all stock: Kuro Kage silver DC 70g stiff flex, I love the clubhead and hit the thing plenty far, just can’t seem to launch it high enough. My swing speed with driver is around 110 average with a compact swing and very aggressive/ fast transition. I currently play Hzrdus T1100 65g 6.5 in my driver and love it. Shafts I’m considering are: Tensei pro blue 70/80 TX; Diamana Thump 75g X flex; Hzrdus Red or Yellow Handcrafted 6.5; other Kuro Kage shafts. Becoming so frustrated with this that I’m considering dropping the fairway wood, sacrificing 20 yards and adding a G400 2 hybrid and calling it a day. Any help is greatly appreciated.

At that swing speed you probably shouldn't be playing the KK stiff. If you can't high launch out of such a soft shaft (relative to your swing) the shaft probably isn't the main cause of your troubles. Unless maybe the fact that it might feel too soft is contributing to a delay (or stalling of some type) in your release.

Has this always been a problem or is this new to this particular fairway? If it's new, what was the last fairway head and shaft that did work well for you?

Not trying to be a smart a*s but you should consider seeing a pro. Hitting that shaft that low likely means some serious delofting through impact.

Could be the shaft, I don't want to say it isn't since I haven't seen you hit balls.

I've always had a steep AoA and actually play a 5 wood because I know it will launch like a 3W and will carry roughly 240-250.

Before making any expensive changes to equipment look at some drills for shallowing out your path with the longer clubs. There are a tonne on offer. More weight distribution on your inside left foot, brushing a 2nd ball away in the take away etc.

It's taken me some time to appreciate the technical differences in a good iron swing and a good Driver/FW swing. They are not the same move for me.

Good luck.

Like both above, i suspect your swing / AOA to be steep, but i guess you have no LM report at hand, so i ask do you take turf with your 3W?.

If thats true, you should use more static loft, AND pay attention to the leading edge on that wood like it was a wedge.

For a player who is steep with his wood, the leading edge should be as flat as possible heel to toe, and a large radius face to sole to prevent to much digging, and that also makes it kind of forgiving on fat shots compared to a wood with sharper radius face to sole and a deeper curve heel to toe.

Be aware of that a shaft who adds dynamic loft, would also close up face angle a bit more....to compansate for that, you need a more open face angle = less loft and back where we started from

Look for a head with 16.5 or higher static loft. If you had a LM report and new your actual launch today, and you knew what numbers you want, the need for extra loft can be calculated.

Thanks everyone for the responses. Going to have a session with my club pro and see if we can get to the bottom of this thing. A lesson is cheaper than a new shaft or club head anyway. If the lesson doesn’t help me improve the issue, then I believe I will look into playing a higher lofted fairway wood. Thanks again
