I hope the USGA does not make Shinnecock Hills into a parched wasteland with ridiculously parched greens. If a score under par wins then so be it.

The USGA will try and replicate Oakmont conditions wise. I'm fine with that. Interesting quote from Rory..."the USGA thinks we're better than we are."

I agree with this. It would be different if Goose had fallen off the map but he’s playing tournaments and making cuts. You could argue he’s played better than Furyk and Els. It’s not like he hasn’t done anything to deserve the special exemption. He won’t go out there and embarrass the USGA

I'M THINKING:

Was happy to see that after being medalist at qualifier and finishing t16 at the 2017 US Open, Steve Stricker finished t2 at -10 to qualify again. Goosen missed by 3 shots at -4. Not sure how many seniors have been top 2 back to back years at qualifier and been top 16 at tourny (at least once), but the list can't be too long.

With Stricker likely to make the cut this week, it will be a lot of tournament golf in a short stretch.

I hope its brutal for these guys, they get too used to shooting 20 under for a tournament.

I dont understand Furyk and Els getting exemptions but not Goosen.Bizarre decision. The man has won 2 US opens and almost a third. hes the last champion at that venue. As a career reward and 2 x time champion he earned it. hes 49 and chances are he wont qualify for another one. Sometimes i dont understand the USGAs thinking on exemptions
