I saw an ad at the top (The Choice is V or X) and it got me thinking....should Titleist look at re-naming that line? Yes, I said line because I include with those two the AVX (confirmed by a Titleist staffer to mean Alternative to the V and X). So here's my proposal:

Currently:

Titleist ProV1

Titleist ProV1X

Titleist AVX

New naming:

Titleist ProV

Titleist ProX

Titleist ProA

This naming function ensures that all three are understood to be on the same plane from a game standpoint, but the whole ProV1/X and AVX naming function, to me at least, is confusing. I understand this will likely never happen because there's too much brand cachet with the line already, but I think this would be a nice way to more easily distinguish the lot.

And yes, I understand that other companies are just as bad. Just a thought based on something that popped up on my screen.

I was under the impression the v1x was their best ball, v1 second best, and avx below the v1...with everything below the avx being a soft ball or 'non premium' ball.

I doubt they would mess with what has been a spectacularly successful formula.

Next you’re going to tell me they should rename their drivers. C’mon son!

If they are going to change anything I would think they should go with:

    Prov1

    Prov1X

    Prov1A

I think that would be good but too many other companies use the "x" designation as a variant of their premium ball as well. So that trend wont likely change....

Now if they make an AVX(x) then they are just messing with us! image/rofl.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='' />

All three are their premium balls at the same price point they are just designed to act differently when struck. That AVX is as soft as a cloud!

It's not confusing at all. No need for a solution to a problem that doesn't exist.

    True.

But in fairness, if there was a problem then the solution was probably OK-ish.
