Take out the X flex shafts, and this guy could be hitting next to me on the range at my club and I would have no idea that he's a legend of the game. Seeing him hit nothing but 20 yard hooks probably wouldn't change that either! Never seen someone younger than 50 using those grips either!

Cool bag, really interesting to see what he sticks with when big endorsement $$$ aren't in play. Surprised to see he got rid of the G2i Craz-E putter he used forever.

The length of Shinny is probably posing some difficult set make-up questions for him and his caddie to answer, which would explain all the fairway woods, hybrids, and wedges in the pictures. Miss seeing him play on a regular basis, hope he plays really well this week.

KP rockin the old school Adams hybrid and TM irons. He can make a run at this if the putter cooperates.

Remember sittin in the grillroom after a round watching him stiff iron shots inside 10 ft. hole after hole. Guys shaking their heads and applauding, good stuff. Kenny gets my respect - great guy.

R7 irons, standard model 'not TP'. Can get anything he wants out there, but sticks with those. He played the Taylor 320 irons for many years as well

Looks like a guy you probably do not want to play for money. Only thing missing from this true grinder setup is a set of metal spikes. That would totally send it over the top.

I don’t know man he might hit nothing but draws but he absolutely flushes it. And he still hits it pretty hard... much harder than any average 50 year old at a random driving range.

I love the fact that he’s still playing those same R7 irons he was playing when he tore up the PGA TOUR for 2 years. Stick that PING G2 CRAZ-E in the bag and I’m sure that brings back great memories.

I noticed this too. I had two sets of the R7 TPs, loved them. But they had non-conforming grooves so I eventually moved on. I'm pretty sure Kenny can get his custom to be conforming....

No chance he'd ever be mistaken for an average club player. You'd know immediately from the impact sound alone hitting next to him. Guy's an absolute flusher at any level Champions/PGA/etc. Stood right behind him at Riv a couple years ago and watched him pepper a 180 flag with a pattern you could throw your bed spread over. Every single shot looked identical and there was far less curve on the ball than advertised on TV.

If Jason Dufner and his Custom Works irons has the best bag at the Open this year, this one has to be the exact opposite.

There is no worst bag, only clubs that are more or less effective for a given player.

The r7’s and Craz-E putter never should have left the bag. It’s like his game crumbled when his Craz-E broke and he switched to r9 irons.

He should have won that Masters by the way, 2009 I think it was.

Non-TP R7 irons that are easily 15 years old vs ANY iron in the world... and they won.

Awesome seeing him with a TEE Hybrid... they deserve WAAAAAY more recognition. TEE fairway woods are cannons.

Can he though? Who would do that for him? Taylormade wouldn't. They'd want him running 790's or 770's so they could push the new stuff. I wonder if no one is saying anything because either A they forgot, or B they just don't care because this guy has no shot of winning.

    20 yard hooks?

Hitting next to me on the range?

You'll need a Contestant Badge this week.

One of my very good friends played in a Pro Am with Kenny Perry. He said KP flushed everything, outdrove everyone (Driver avg. 304) had every iron going for the flagstick, and shot the easiest 67 from the Tips he'd ever seen.

In addition to being a multiple PGA Tour winner, KP is a 2-Time US Senior Open Champion.

And yes, Kenny Perry was Exempt from qualifying by winning last years US Senior Open at Salem CC.

That means KPs name is on every single 2018 US Open Entry Form.

    20 yard hooks?

It isn't how, it's how many.

Kenny was using a Craz E last week at the Principal Charity Classic in Des Moines.
  • farmerfarmer Members Posts: 7,898 ✭✭
Bobby Locke hooked everything, supposedly including putts. Hogan made the fade cool, but KP can flat out play that hook. He might have won a PGA if he hadn't spent so much time visiting in the booth after he finished his round, rather than preparing for the playoff.

    Love me some Kenny Perry.

I have some adult-onset scoliosis so when my back is hurting I use my old man, Kenny Perry swing. Up, back, and around. For whatever reason it doesn’t hurt. Played my best golf with that swing but I’m chicken to stick with it.

KP should be playing his Adams Redline irons (those things were great), but I digress.

Evidently my sarcasm didn't come across well (does it ever!?) - obviously Kenny is an amazing player to have had the career he had. All I was trying to say was that if a 50+ year old guy wearing glasses showed up next to me with that bag, the last thing I would think is that i'm in the presence of a legend of the game. As you say, not how, but how many!
