Steelfiber i95 or kbs tour hybrid proto?

Hi guys,

I have the honma tw-u forged 18* and I use it as a back up for tighter courses. I am looking to change the shaft to a steelfiber i95 or the kbs tour hybrid proto 95. The shaft at the moment is a modus 105.

Will it have a huge impact on swingweight as the modus is 106 grams?

No possibility to test the shafts where I live so any feedback is welcome. It will be used both of the tee and as a utility of the deck. Please advice!

You will probably lose at least 1 SW point. Maybe 2 points going to Steelfiber i95.

I have hit the Modus and i95 and I got lower flight with the Steelfiber. Both had very good feel.

What are you playing in your irons now?

I am playing modus 120x in my irons, but I was thinking that a graphite shaft would help a bit with launch from the deck.

The two shaft characteristics that might help you get a higher launch are (1) a different bend profile that results in a higher launch for your swing or (2) lighter weight, which could potentially equate to higher swing speed, which in turn should equate to higher launch (all other things being equal).

In the old days graphite was more likely to meet those two factors, but these days there are a bunch of stouter graphite offerings (like the Steelfibers) and lower weight, higher launching steel shafts, so material is not really relevant here. You're better off looking around for shafts that are expected to be higher launching than your current Modus shaft, and possibly also lighter, regardless of whether they are steel or graphite. I'm not familiar with the KBS, but the Steelfibers probably will not launch higher.

could look at pxi 6.0 or 6.5...

lightweight, higher launching steel (115 g or so raw)

I am not a subscriber so I could only read the first part, but thanks for the link.

I am not a fan of the ad di lines and so on. I am probably wrong but I have it in my head that a graphite shaft would make the utility iron easier to launch if the shaft has a mid launch profile and is made for hybrids.

I tend to launch my irons high but steel in a utility makes me cautious when I attack the ball.
