Can you remove the insert on a Scotty TeI3 that does not have the elastomer around it?

Same as with the elastomer around it. There are screws in the back. The back side elastomer must be removed to get access to the screws.

As I understood, the elastomer on the face was there to make production easier, i.e. the tolerance for the fit could be a bit looser and any difference are made up by the elastomer.

But they are all held in by the tiniest socket head screws you ever saw.

The TeI3 putters without the Elastomer ring were produced by Bob Bettinardi. The TeI3 putters with the Elastomer ring were produced, IIRC, by BOS golf or local SoCal milling house. Pretty sure it was BOS golf though.
