Brooks has no use for a 3w. He would hit it too long. It’s a gap decision for him. For us mortals, it’s a decision because we can’t hit a higher lofted wood. I carry 14.5* and a 17.5*.

I have my 3 wood set to 16* so its pretty much a 4 wood. I love it off the tee and off the deck.

If you set a 3W to a higher loft, you have a 4W with a 3W-length shaft. The higher loft + shorter shaft of a 4W make it easier to control, and many golfers hit it more reliably and sometimes farther than a 3W.

Those of you who get a TM 3W.HL fairway wood should be aware it has a 3W shaft length.

Been playing a 16* Callaway XR Pro for four years. Much better gapping than a 3 wood and easier to hit.

I don’t hit it as high as I would like to, and the gapping between my 19* hybrid isn’t as big as I would like it to be, so I just ordered a Bio Cell+ 5/7 wood head online and set it to 16.5* or 17.5*. Should increase my carry and make it easier to hit into longer holes and hold greens better.

I've got the flyz 5/7 wood set at 17 at the moment and it is the exact club you are describing you are hoping for with the biocell 5/7.

Pretty much everybody in our group has played a 16*-17* club for years. Very few golfers can hit a 14*-15* club off the deck and a few yards off the tee is worth the versatility.

You know what, I sold mine last year when I went full Cobra with my woods. This year I bought an M2 HL again. I am never letting this go again. I don't know why I did that in the first place.

Rogue 4w, 17 degree. One of the easiest clubs to hit I've ever swung. Carry about 220-225, so it replaces the 3w for me.

i actually carry 2..

TEExcg5 16.5* 4W with Tour AD40 A flex shaft and a Giga XF-II 17* 4W with a 1/2" shorter shaft which i hit 10 yards shorter and takes the place of a 5W..

...both clubs are stock from the factory and have never been altered except for new grips..

2016 M2 3HL. Goes further than I can hit a 15* 3W, plus the extra loft makes it easier to hit and it goes higher.
