Bushnell Scout 1000

Recommended Posts

At Overstock for a good price + coupon + rebate (possibly another 5%)
As a recently new member here, I've always enjoyed looking around and reading the threads. Thanks to everyone for the input. Like everyone else, I'll share a good deal with you guys when I find one.

I came across the Bushnell Scout 1000 (aka Tour V2) on Overstock.com for $239.99 plus $1 shipping for $240.99.
For a limited time, you can use this coupon code (116170) at checkout for 10% off. That brings your new total to $216.99. Submit the Bushnell Scout 1000 rebate for another $50 off price. That will make it $166.99.

There is no tax on Overstock, plus if you are a yearly paid member (or sign-up) you can save an additional 5% on all purchases. That could possibly make it $153.99 as you would get to also save ALL of that $1 shipping, too. ;)

Enjoy. I expect to see a "sold out" soon for that great deal.

I paid $216 plus change through Overstock 2 weeks ago. I went with the 2nd day air because if you want it soon, it might take close to 10 business days if you go with ground. Overstock takes a couple of days to process their orders. I received it, tried it, and love it. Only thing I don't like is the case it comes with. The string closure they used broke the first day. They should have went velcro, magnetic or zippered. Otherwise, every bit worth the money and the rebate makes it a steal.

I broke down and purchased one of these on Wednesday from overstock as well, with the rebate and 2nd day shipping mine will come to about $160, for me that was just too good a deal to pass up, considering I play 90% of my golf at my home course and what I mostly need is precise yardage to the pin from 200 on in.

Guess we'll see in a few days how well I like it.

Is the scout 1000 and tour vs exactly the same in functions? The bullseye on the scout the same as the pinseeker on the vs? And where is the rebate{in the box or from overstock?} thanks for your information!

Yes, the two models are exactly the same. Check the top portion of this thread for a link to the rebate form.

Just got mine Monday from Overstock. Took it to the practice range Tuesday night and just played around with it hitting our flags around the practice area. Seems to work just perfectly. I stood on our practice putting green, about 20 yards left of our #1 tee, which is a 460 yard par 4. Held it up, found the red flag on #1 green, bullseye mode, and it came up 433 yards, which I'm sure was dead on. Pretty impressive, and can't wait to take it out for my round this Saturday morning.

And all for about $160 after I send the rebate form in. I've read a couple things about the battery life being suspect in this section, I hope that isn't the case for mine.

I'm trying to decide if to go with this or the igolf neo. I think I might have more use for a range finder than a gps since I can get distances for doglegs, hazards, and how far I'm hitting the ball on the range. How good is this thing at picking up spots on the course other than the flag, can it pick up the distance of your ball as well?

Laser range finders are able to pick up targets other than pins very well...just point, shoot, see distance. That is the advantage I find with a laser....you know exactly what you are measuring to. Dog legs, hazards...you name it.

As for picking up the distance of a ball on the ground...you just have to scan to a spot or landmark near the ball. When not at the range....to measure a drive...you stand at your ball and aim back at the tee box marker.

I just got mine today from Overstock.com, tried it out at the range at lunch, seems stupid simple to use and very accurate. I also have a skycaddie, so now I should have absolutely no excuse for ever misclubbing again. :)

Edit:

I now see that you can get it from opticsplanet.com for $229 with free UPS shipping....

I went to the fat wallet site and established an user name and password. Would you please let me know how to proceed with getting the additional 4% discount?

Thanks,

It's pretty simple.

  1. Go to fatwallet.com website
  2. Do a search for "overstock" from the search box
  3. Click on the main "Overstock.com" link in the Stores section
  4. On the right side of page, there's a link for 4.0% cash back at Overstock.com -- click on this link (you may need to hold down the Control Key at the same time if you have a Pop-up blocker).
  5. This takes you to overstock.com's site and registers you on Fatwallet for the 4% rebate (they alert you when the rebate is available (usually, it takes a few months).

I've received hundreds of $$$ in fatwallet rebates -- great site ! Use it when you buy big ticket items online like Dell, Golfsmith, Circuit City, etc -- they all add up.

Hey all- can some more scout 1000 users please attest to its true on-course max range for the following: (not manufacturer's stated ranges)

flags: ? (we've got one vote for "230+ yds", and another for "433 yds" wow!) any other input?

trees: ?

people ?

spots on a flat/level fairway?

elevated bunker lip ?

Questions: With this model - or other lasers, can I stand on the tee box and shoot the middle of a level/flat fairway? Maybe this is something lasers just are not capable of doing if the ground is too flat and not angled back toward the user - Or do I need to shoot something more vertical like a tree, flag, OB post, etc. Would love to be able to get distances to the center of say a fairway on a dogleg instead of getting the distance to a tree beyond the fairway. Make sense?

Please feel free to PM me or post here, would love to get this info soon as my b-day is in a couple weeks! :partytime2: (fyi, I'm not really able to ask for the 1500 model - too much $ for a present - it's the scout 1000 or igolf probably) thanks for the info!

I have hit a few flags over 200, the longest was 234. I hit a telephone pole last night at the rang at 297. The longer shots do take a few attempts, if anything just to verify the distance. The bullseye/pinseeker works great, if you are aiming at a target it will pick up the closer of the objects it hit. So if there are tree's behind the flag it will read the tree and then jump to the flag if it paints it. If you can get an angle on a flat piece of ground, it can read that.

BTW, folks:

Bushnell messed up the rebate form. Do NOT mail it to the department printed on the form!

Mike1 referenced this on another post, I just called to confirm.

The correct Dept# to send it to is #102086.

the one on the rebate is 101969, which is for a $100 off infinity binoculars rebate. your rebate will be denied if you send it to that department.

Bushnell should really correct this.

If you've already sent yours out, you will be denied, but don't worry, just call the # provided on the form (1-877-206-7462) and talk to them, they'll sort it out.

Thanks for the info, I was going to mail mine this week.

As for picking up targets, I played in a tournament this weekend, and struggled a bit with picking up flags from over 150. Part of the problem was the flag was not moving much at all a lot of the time, and my hands are not that steady either. But if we were waiting for the group in front to putt out, it is real easy to pick up a body as they are tapping in their last putts. But I did not have any problem picking up anything else, small trees, bunkers, etc. I noticed that almost all the young college age guys use the laser range finders. But what is disheartening is seeing them trying to laser the flag on a 350 yard par 4 from the tee.......... :partytime2:

Looks like Walmart has this on clearance for 199.99, free shipping to a store. You could use the rebate on this too probably .. might have to pay tax though.
