Cleveland CG4 Iron Review

The CG4 is the newest iron offering from Cleveland as they continue to gradually shift from the TA (Tour Action) naming of their clubs to the new CG line. The CG4 comes in to the line basically as a replacement for the TA6/TA7.

The TA6 has sold really well, in part because it is a fairly decent iron and in part because of the great price point it comes in at. There are only a few irons that can compete with the TA6 for the dollar value including Cobra who has made that market their niche. The TA7 sold well because it was a fairly forgiving iron but still had a classic look with clean lines. The CG4 is a bit of a combination of both of these. It is a larger club head with a fairly wide sole and thick top line, ala the TA6. The head shape and offset are more similar to the TA7 iron. The big change with the CG4 iron is the CMM metal that the clubheads are made from. Like the other irons and wedges in the CG family the CG4 is extremely soft. The CMM metal has a much higher concentration of carbon giving it the feel of a forged club. With the CG4 they have made a club for the higher handicap player that feels great. The Action Lite steel and graphite shafts are decent but should be upgraded for players with a higher club head speed...(more)

I saw these a while back. It seems like the cg1 and cg2 are getting alot more use and better feedback. All i've heard about form the cg4 is that its too big and shovely, but other than that it performs well and feels soft
