I like mine a lot too! Seems that with this being their 2nd year out, end of life has to be soon!

Do you think they're gonna go with a full set of 4 different irons for their next generation? I feel like having the 790, 770, 750, and 730 was a bit overkill. Really not a huge difference between 770 and 750. Just give us one muscle back, one muscle cavity, and one cavity back and call it a day.

I’m pretty sure they’ll skip the 750 replacement.

I though TM did a great job with the design/graphics all the way through the P700 line. Hopefully the simple design trend continues. 2017 was a great year for iron design.

TM did a cracker jack job with that TM line. To me, though, between the 790 through 730, I just didn't find a place for the 750 or the 770. My purist side loved and feel and look of the 730s and my 4 / 5 Iron-I-Need-Help sidewas fully cool with the 790's and actually easily thought I could run a whole set of those. The 750 and 770s just had no place for me but, I don't guys that only use them and do so very well.

I'm interested to see what's next for Taylormade. They had a grean all around product release this year.

They should release a P760 and call it a day. I enjoyed the P770’s when I played them.

There will be a P760 replacing the 750 and 770. Will blend better with the 730 & 790. Haven't heard a release date yet.

Agree with the comments about keeping it clean and simple. The current P series of irons has put some class back into the TM brand.

The idea of a P760 makes a lot of sense and is appealing to someone like myself.

760 would be interesting especially since the 700 monikers represent the blade length. It would literally be something in between the size of the 770 and 750.

If there is a replacement for the 770 and 750, will the 790’s continue or will all the P series irons be updated?
  • CaseyDanCaseyDan Members Posts: 796 ✭✭
I have a gut feeling we will see a players iron from TM this year. There are some companies on ebay selling the P770’s via auction. One company has at least 3 sets selling a daty - one with regular, stiff and extra stiff shafts - all stock. To me, someone is unloading product really cheap and quick for a reason.

And no, I have no insider information.

The possibility of a set in between the 750 and 770 really intrigues me. I have buddies that love both models and one has a combo set. What I've never understood was the huge price difference between the two. I want to say it was a $400 difference. If TM comes out with the 760's in the price point of the 770's, I will definitely have to give them a try.

Sounds awesome. Is that a guess, or do you know this to be the case?

The 790's shouldn't even be considered the same series as p730-770. They belong with the M series. I hit the P770 and thought they are great irons and could easily game them. They are as nice as my z745's. They feel fantastic. I hope they continue the line and the look.

It's a distance iron, not a players iron. The 700 series are forged players irons. I would say they are closer to M3 irons that P770. The specs are almost identical. M3 even has less offset in mid/long irons.

You compare on a number of factors, surely?

    Loft - M series

    Offset - M series

    Looks - 700 series

    Feel - 700 series

    Profile - 700 series

    Overall = 700 series

Having said that, whilst I personally think they are closer to the 700 series, the reality is that they probably sit in a category all on its own within the TM line-up - "Players Distance".
