If you could get a lesson from any instructor...who?

Out of all the instructors in the world, if money and access wasn't a problem, what 3 instructors would you take lessons from?

(I had a similar thread a couple of yrs ago and the overwhelming response was Butch, wondering if that has changed, I have a feeling it might)

After watching a few episodes of the new playing lessons, Sean Foley, seems to be a really smart guy and very knowledgeable. I’m also a big fan of Hank Haney. And lastly, Matt killen. Seems to be a super chill guy who is beyond his years in knowledge and expertise.

TW. Oh...he's not a coach. I've only taken lessons from one lady, and I doubt she's still working.

    So none I guess.

TW Counts! Amazing what he's doing right now with no coach. No player knows the golf swing better than him IMO

No player knows the golf swing better than him IMO (Tiger)????

Pretty hard to quantify that but sounds plausible.

I’d imagine there’s heaps of tour players that are right into swing theory and science.

Dan C for me. Had online lessons but think I would learn a lot from in person. Ironically 2 1/2 hours drive away as on vacation in Florida from UK but would mean a full day away from family so not going to happen sadly.

    Malaska, Monte, or Clement

Which of the 3 changes for me on a day to day basis and/or what I happen to be working on at the time. If I were to leave right this second, I'd go see Mike.

    Pick three?

    Monte for sure.

    I am curious about Tyler.

But then I would be back to Monte.

I've met Butch several times, and some of those times for a lesson, and really I have no idea if he's a great instructor because I haven't really worked with him enough, but he is a great storyteller. I wish I could have taken lessons from his father. Claude Harmon would have been the pinnacle to me in another time/space.

But I say this with all seriousness and as instructional expert myself (not golf, but executive coaching). One of the marks of a great instructor is not only the knowledge of the game/swing, but just as important is the ability to relay the message many different ways tailored to the student and be engaging. I've met many of the game's top names in instruction, and many tend to be repetitive and inflexible. They clearly know the game, but many times they will not resonate with a student when the currency of their reputation wears out. That's never an issue for Monte, he nails it. I know for sure there are many excellent instructors I have not met and we have not even heard of...lots of hidden gems. Golf is a f'd up industry in many ways, so many sad tales, and such a gap between those making bank at it and those surviving on their dedication and love of the game. All that being said, Monte is truly one of the best. He's come a long way since the early youtube videos in some unnamed park/field, but going back to those old videos for now, the amount of wisdom and personalization gold.

I know Monte has this life challenge of balancing being a great instructor with chasing his tour dreams. Even though the world would be robbed of access to Monte's instructional genius if he made it on the Senior Tour, I sincerely hope he realizes his dreams. It's more than he deserves it, he's worked hard for it, and it would be story to show us all that the golf world is right. And it's ok if we lose him to the tour because he can't play forever (haha!) and someday he will back to instruction.

Pete Cowen for me. Short game is where I need a lot of work and I recon a few hours spent with him would work wonders.
