I have played both and I can tell you that the 900 Tour is a more playable iron. One is satin and one is chrome.

I played 716 CB, 718 CB/MB, PXG 0311T, Epic pro's, VR pro blades, Apex Pro's, Apex MB's, MP18's, all within the last two seasons, switching constantly, finally picked up the 900 Tours and have no desire to change. Feel is there, compact size, and work-ability. I'm not changing until these are worn out and then I'll probably just buy another set of 900Tour's.

716 cb feel super soft to me. Even softer then the mp18’s I had

I hit the 900T in the store last week... I was impressed with the performance and feel, but I thought they showed too much offset for my eye. I prefer the compact head of the 716 cb, the leading edge grind, and the overall look of the 716. Both are great irons, you probably can't go wrong with either, so it's really going to come down to what you like to look at more.

I have had the 900 Forged for almost 2 years. I hover between a scratch and a 2 hdcp. Best set of irons I've ever owned.

I own the CB, probably would choose the CB, but one thing keeps them out of my bag regularly. When guys talk about point and shoot irons, you can picture that and then look 180 degrees for the CB's performance IMO. This is a iron that wants to work the ball. I know this is probably a swing thing on my part, but if I want to shoot low with them, I have to have a plan on each shot of how I want to work the ball. They cut through the turf as well as any club I have ever played but I can't just aim at the stick and consistently throw the ball at the flag. Cuts, draws, low, high...all can be done with ease with the CB. Straight line arrows...not with my swing at least. But, I love them for that. It makes you think and it is just fun. Sure, you can take the PW or 8i and aim and shoot. For me, the longer irons feel great but I have to execute something because that ball is going to move in some direction. Maybe I am not good enough for these LOL!!

Update, add a PGA Championship.

Back to back US Open to the 900 Tours is good enough for Brooks Koeptka clinches it for me.

I'm not even sure "Koeptka" hit an iron, it was pretty much driver-wedge. 900T were not a factor.

Pretty sure the 4 iron on 16 was a pretty good shot too :golfer:

Some flavor of the month driver.
Some driving iron for Links courses.

A hybrid to save my bad shots.
Titleist blades when I feel lucky otherwise something more forgiving.
A Vokey wedge or 2.
I hate every one of my 17 putters.

It was a great shot! There was a little sarcasm in my post which is hard to tell obviously, but these guys can play anything. To make an argument that one iron is better than another because of what a tour player plays continues to be a ridiculous comparison. Both are great irons, but choosing based on what someone else plays rarely pays off.

Yea man. I was being sarcastic back. All good. And... I agree most pros strike the ball pretty darn good. :-)
