Coming from HX Tours

Ok so today I went out and tried out the 2008 Nike One Platinum and all I can say is WOW. This thing checks on a dime on the green. Even on mis hit chips it stops where it lands. I really didnt play with it enough to judge the distance. I also tried the 2008 TP blacks and played hat for a while and really liked it.

Now, which is a lower spin ball, the TP Black or the TP Red? I really would like something that checks up around the greens but I put enough spin on the balls off my irons and dont want to much. Any recommendations?

Also, my dad got me a few dozen HX tour 56s, how do you like them if you played with them.

Did you play the TP Black LDP which is the 2008 ball? It spins more than the TP Red LDP. If you played the non-LDP version (pre 2008), the TP Red is the spin ball.

As with any ball, you really need to play them to see which one is better for your game. I prefer the TP Black LDP because it spins well for me and the TP Red LDP doesn't spin as mush as (think) I want.

I've been giving a box of Cally HX Tour ix a spin and I like them so far. My usual ball is a Pro V1 (or x depending on the temperature) or the Nike One Black. They are as long as the Pro Vs and check well. I always felt like the old HX tours were a little shorter off the tee, but the ix feels as long as any other premium ball. Plays well in the wind, too.

BTW for the HX tour 56's they're soft and spin well... they don go quite as far as the other premium balls but still ok. Some find that the sound you get is loud, try and ignore the sound i guess...
