Old school tool

Putting problems have been the biggest problems in my game. Recently I was at a play it again, you know just looking and I found an old favorite again. Wilson 8802 but this time an 8813. As always great feel and as always great distance control but this time with the 8813 my alignment is better and I’m making the short ones again.

So here I am with blades in the bag and a blade putter.

Ive got an 8813 I bought on my one trip to the States back in 1996. Played great with in whilst in Florida, but it took me a long time to putt consistently with it over here on our slower greens. I eventually found some form with it but then I cut it down to 34” and it felt way too light. No amount of lead tape has got it near to where it needs to be and I limit my use to carpet practice or if I know the greens are going to be quick. My latest putter, Radius Classic *8, is a modern interpretation and the headweight is significantly heavier which means it works on slower greens. The feel is not quite up to the 8813 but it is a great compromise.

Enjoy the 8813 and the blades...a great combination.

I had the Odyssey version for quite a while. #8, I think? Loved it and hated it depending on the day.

A Bullseye will also help you with putting woes. Extremely small sweet spot.

Took it out again today and shot an even par round. Nice to take a bit of pressure off the approach shots when you have a putter going well.

Guess the more elusive that sweet spot seems the more rewarding it is when you actually strike it.
