Original Callaway S2H2 5 wood questions

Just acquired this. Brand new. Any idea it’s scarcity these days? Worth keeping around in this condition or should I throw it in the bag for a few weeks and see how it plays?

Love that tumbled finish Callaway used to use. Would like to see them bring it back at some point.

That's a gem right there, with the black dot on the sole. I believe that makes it a tour issued design. The standard ones did not have that dot.

Throw stenson in this group as well he played a black dot 3 dog for many seasons. These had a very deep face back in the day.

There is some sort of shaft iD band on it that looks like modern day tour issue ones. I’ll grab a pic when I get home.

Actually these s2h2's that came out before the original Big Bertha, are very small in overall size with a not so deep face.

The deep face Callaway model from that era is the Bobby Jones driver and fairways

That's the tour I.D. sticker. Nice pick up. I've got a 13* 3 wood that I'll take out every once in a while just for old times sake. But these things are small... S M all... weren't called the "peanut" for nothing

Any idea what the tour ID sticker is saying about the club? Or is it just a serial number kind of thing?

I can't believe this is a tour spec club, only because it is a "firm" flex. And "firm" was really like a regular flex. I'd guess that is just a serial number band. This club is beautiful and pretty rare these days. I doubt it is worth much monetarily. If mine I'd ether play it along with my other 25 year old clubs, hang it on the wall before getting even one scuff mark on the face...

Not everything that is tour issue comes with rebar in it. A lot of the tour issue clubs I've had came from the senior tour. The 3 wood I have had a firm flex RCH series shaft in it. They had several flexes and kickpoints... 4.2, 4.3, 5,2. 5.3, etc. Of course I did reshaft it with rebar not long after I got it. I was and still am a big Duval fan. It still has the tour x EI-70 shaft in it like he played. It sits in a bag with a 975d and an old set of mp14s. It's fun to take out that bag once or twice a year and remember the good old days. Tour issue or not, the s2h2 is a classic club. I put it right up there with the Titleist 970.

I have the same exact club. The shaft is a Memphis 10 stiff shaft which is original. I bought it new a long time ago, I still play it now as a hybrid club of sorts and love it. It does take pace in the swing for best results, not too hard not too soft......I just re-griped mine for this season.....
