Best putter for under $60?

So this is not a post for me to find a new putter, but rather just to see what kind of deals you guys have found in the past. I have a couple putters that you guys can find for cheap that I think are great putters and easy to get a hold of. I'm kind of lumping these brands together, rather than one putter style, but maybe this can help someone out looking for a deal.

1. Anything Odyssey- This one is easy. Go on callaway pre-owned and you will find putters under $60 in "value" condition that are still in the wrap. Got a versa 7 last year for $50 with headcover that was basically untouched.

2. Vintage Pings- Head to your local goodwill and start hunting for some old anser 2's. These are the inspiration for the most popular putter head shape on tour/in golf in general. My only complain is the light head weight, but slap some lead tape on these bad boys and you have a $30 scotty. Kinda.

3. Cleveland putters- Cleveland's most popular items today are probably their wedges, so some of their old milled-style putters can get overlooked. They look great, feel great, and can be bought on ebay for around ~$45.

Show me your finds!

For a brand new option, the Ray Cook SR series are solid. I bought one to try a different style than I have been gaming and I've seen immediate improvement. The face is familiar to those who have rolled a Taylor Made with the pure roll insert. And the head weight of the SR100 (heel shafted #9 style) is perfect for me at about 350g.

A short time ago, Budget Golf - via their EBay store - had a number of new, leftover, Cleveland putters ranging from $29 - $59. I picked up a #10 with insert for <$30. Should have bought a few more at that price.

I can recommend the new Tommy Armour putter carried at Dick's. I got mine for $80, which is pretty close to your ballpark, and GolfSpy says it's a better putter than any of the Scotty's... (Your results may vary, but I love my Tommy Armour putter!)

LOL!! Thanks for the chuckle this morning with my coffee...Some of it shot through my nose though.

I work night shifts 7p7a and leave the eBay auctions up while I work. Not always but some nights they will have some steals on there on the auctions ending in the middle of the night. It’s hit or miss. I feel like other kinds of clubs are so much easier to get dirt cheap than putters are.

I agree about the recent budgetgolf.com Being awesome. I’ve never seen a retailer drop prices that low with that much stuff.

I’ll chime back in again.

There is absolutely no way to answer this with a particular brand or model.

The best putter under $60 is the used putter that you happen to stumble across in the golf shop, or thrift shop, or play it again sports, that YOU happen to like the look of and happens to fit your stroke.

I found an old beat up ghost spider slant neck in Golf galaxy 2 years ago for $60. It immediately felt good to me. Im Still using the ugly beast. One of my best club purchase ever.

Im sure u can putt just fine with it, but you could have gotten something much nicer/better for a fraction of that price.

I’m guessing he read, or someone told him about, Spy’s review that said the Tommy mallet tied for first place in their tests of current mallet putters.

The TA putter is a very nice putter. I wouldn't knock it until you try it.

Back to the post......If you are like me and do not like putters with "inserts", the Cleveland Huntington Beach putters can be found sometimes for around $50 on ebay...or $99 at retail locations. The Huntington Beach line has lots of options and if you like a "soft" feel off the putter, I cannot remember a "softer" feel from a recently made putter that I have tried.

re: some of the comments above...I don't play with it, but the Tommy Armour Impact Series #3 was a decent feeling putter when I was messing around at Golf Galaxy. If someone told you it was a PING or Odyssey, most folks would be happy to pay $100 for one.

I would agree with you there. Only threw in some suggestions because of trends that I have seen on ebay and other places!

I'd have to agree here. My best value putters have come from eBay auctions (true auction, rarely BIN). Just pick up a Rife Cayman Island for $41! Not the greatest putter in the world, but pretty solid value for a fully milled putter. Save the auctions when you find them and wait until the last second to put your bid in.

Thrift shops and Play It Again Sports are good options too. I find that my local golf shops (PGASS and Roger Dunn) price used putters way too high, although I have heard that you can get them to move down on those prices (haven't tried personally).

Here's two Options - Both brand new...

Scotty Cameron style toe hang - $29. -- https://www.mggolf.com/putters/

Odyssey Style face balanced - $25. https://www.rockbottomgolf.com/golf-clubs/putters/ray-cook-golf-gyro-putter/

I've putted with both of these and they're really pretty nice considering the price...

Also shows you the mark up on Scotty's and Odysseys...

New... Clevelands

Used... I've enjoyed Odyssey Pro-Type and Ping Scottsdale. Also, the Nike Method Core putters were really nice and can be had for cheap.
