Playing mixed bags

I am curious and could use some input on you guys that have mixed bags

And by mixed bags I mean this

Wedges that don’t match in color or model

Playing chrome irons but black wedges

Etc

Stuff like this

My OCD makes this so hard. I would love to see who does it or who doesn’t and why. Hell even throw a pic for example. I need help getting over this

Never have played "fully matched" since my early teens.

Simply play what I play best.

Done by feel & performance.

Started with woods - followed by wedges - irons (for the most part) still all matched

Sorry… all Ping except the Scotty Cameron NP2.

My son, like augustgolf is your example. He plays Titleist 910 driver, Cobra 5 wood, TM Hybrid, Ping blades and uses an old TM Spider putter (CS) and heʻs scratch or real close last i checked.

Mines not matched at all.

I totally understand where you are coming from. A couple of years back I used to need everything to match perfectly. But now I have gone to a mixed bag and have never played better.

Matching is for weddings and I have commitment issues when it comes to my sticks.

The only thing I am anal about matching are my 3 and 5 woods. I like for them to look the same for some reason.

Ping i5 irons, 4-PW

Wilson 52 and 56 wedges

Odyssey putter

Edel single lengths. Black sm7’s. Black Scotty. In my longer game, I carry Exotic sticks. There is a part of me that needs to have a sense of uniformity because of the problem you mention, but it’s hard to use equipment that does not do the job you know how to do. Bottom line.

I will also say that it bothers me to see a bag set a clubs that are not taken care of. OCD OR NOT. That is just me. It matters.

I have no issues with mix bag but I can also appreciate a matched set

Bernhard Langer's bag would drive me nuts though.....

Mixed up bag, including wedge brands and finish,as well as stickers still on shafts. My hybrids have been in the bag for about 10 years and the stickers are still there. Sometimes I even put other brands headcovers on my clubs! Out that in your OCD pipe and smoke it!

See my Signature. Everything was fit by my son who is a fiiter at TXG as am I at Golf Town. Every club was chosen for performance not aesthetics. A fitter should never fit himself to avoid ingrained prejudices.

Completely mixed. Black finish irons, multiple wedge brands (Vokey/Cobra), head covers that are different brands...would cause problems for the OCD types

All titleist, 917 driver and woods, 716 ap2s, sm6/7 wedges, and a scotty. Used to play all callaway. At the very least I'd like the style of the stuff to match, but could probably shave a few strokes off if i really had a frankenbag of sorts. But hot damn my bag is sexy to me

I have used mixed sets all my life.

However, I am starting to fall prey with an OCD regarding headcovers matching my actual golf bag

Tour edge xcg7 5 wood, orlimar 7 wood, maltby ufw 9 wood. Currently, trying a maltby 7 wood though.

Vokey sm4 chrome 50, raw spin milled 54, raw sm4 58. I don't think they make a raw 50 with 12 degrees of bounce.

I like too many weird clubs to play a 'matched bag' but I admit the mixed bag is not a great look

The only people who should have matched bags IMO are Tour pros getting paid to restrict themselves. Chances are no one manufacturer makes the best club in every category for an amateur so I'm all in favor of playing around and building the best bag for your game vs blind brand loyalty. I personally have Ping, Mizuno, Adams and Titleist in my W/S bag.

the real oddity in my bag are my Ping i25 hybrids, which were a matte black finish. My 22 got a scratch on top, so, I used automobile paint scratch remover, and, turned it a shiny dark grey (got rid of the scratch). The 26 is still a matte black. I don't really notice when I am playing golf, while not playing golf, that is another story (818 hybrids to match my 718 irons might be in my future)

On the contrary, a mixed bag actually satisfies my OCD. But I usually keep irons/woods/wedges to one company+shaft combo.

I dont need to match, My P790's are part satin part black. Wedges are black, satin and Chrome.

Never cared or played matching stuff. I've had irons/wedges in different finishes (chrome, satin, etc) and currently have chrome irons with black wedges.

I’m guilty of not even sticking to one set, let alone a whole bag of matched clubs...

Driver: M2 or Ping G black/White

3W: Cally XR black

4-5W: F7 Black

Irons: mizzy MP5 / Nike VR Pro / PXG chrome

Wedges: Nike mix of chrome and black

Putter: CT black
