Mizuno MP 53 vs 54

I had a set of 53's years ago and really liked them...so of course I sold them. I have a chance to get some 54's in a combo set. Just wondering how the 54's compare to the 53's?

I preferred the 54’s over my 53’s. But they were both fantastic. Better turf interaction in the 54’s.

Just the opposite for me.....sorry. Hated the 54's and recently bought another set of 53's which are 1of my favorite Mizuno's ever !!!!

Thanks guys....Not sure what to do. I also have my eyes on some Callaway CF16 at a local shop - they are used so I've been able to hit them, pretty impressive. Decisions, decisions....

Had both. Currently using 54's. For me, the 54's feel better and are a little more playable.

Try my 52s while you decide.

The MP53 launched a little more penetrating for me. Really great irons. Very playable. The MP54 flew a little higher and shorter for me. I had both and sold the 54’s.

MP-53s look better and seem like they have more meat behind their sweet spot.

Stick with 53s.

Played 3 sets of both either is fine....both were same 4 me

Only played, and still play, the 54's. Can't imagine 53's being better. Honestly, the MP54's are the best irons I have ever hit.

This is exactly my experience, as well.

Can't go wrong with either, though, IMO

I haven’t tried the 54’s but the 53 are an incredibly easy to hit iron in with s players iron profiile. I would imagine that the 54 would be comparable. You probably can’t go wrong here.

I appreciate all the replays. I would be getting them in the long irons 3-6 only.

53s for me. Look and feel(softer)better to me.

Yeah, I passed on the combo set. I have some Nike VPC that I actually hit pretty good and I'm not sure the 54/64 combo would be much of an upgrade.

Haha! I could’ve told you the VPC were better than the 53/54. I went 52, 53, 54, VPC for life!
